Has anyone out there stayed in this campground in Duluth, MN?

Thanks in advance

We have stayed there multiple times. You will be parked on pavement. It is actual!y where the boats from the harbor are parked in the winter. The location is the reason to stay here. You will be approximately 2 blocks from the aerial lift bridge and all Great Lake freighters go into the harbor under the lift bridge Near the aerial lift bridge is a great maritime museum which is free. One thing you'll need to camp there is a water pressure value as the water pressure is very high You will need reservations. Go on line to look at the layout as some sites are difficult to get into and some are more difficult to get out of (i.e. You may have to back out to get to the entrance).

We stayed there a few days after a (big?) rain. They said our site had water a foot deep or such then. It was fine when we were there. Above description is accurate. So watch it if you are going during or after a heavy rain!

Hoping to be there 4 days next August. Backing looks like it might be the only way to exit the angled spots along the pier that have the better view. The lift bridge, museum and the north shore scenic drive are on our agenda. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Did you stay in the pier side spots or the spots backed up to the street?

Thanks

We have stayed once on the pier side (W/E only) and multiple times on the street side (FHU). The ease of parking your rig depends on the vehicles parked by the marina.

We enjoy Split Rock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Falls, the Palisades lookout which are all North of Duluth. Also take scenic highway 16 along Lake Superior between Duluth and Two Harbors. Another lighthouse and harbor is in Two Harbors. If you check the shipping schedule you may catch a freighter coming into the harbor.

In Duluth there is a sky line drive and a city park (Inger Park/Tower) which offers a great view of the harbor. Also Minnesota Point (which is where the campground is located) has beautiful sand beaches. As you come into Duluth from the South there is a rest area with a Visitor Center that provides a wealth of information on the area.

IF you wish to spend more time, there is a city campground in Two Harbors - Burlington Bay - which is in Two Harbors north of Duluth but you definitely will need reservations.
