Agree, most will give a mileage or annual, which ever comes first....regardless of synthetic or not.

The manufacturer will not let you destroy your engine. They don’t wont you waste your money. They aren’t in the business of selling oil. Just follow their recommendations.

Mobil 1 full synthetic. New filter at each change. 5,000 mile intervals. I don't ever want to see the oil change reminder message. 110,500 miles on this TV. Used almost exclusively for towing. No problems.

Synthetic motor oils can be used to extend change intervals out past 20K miles. to do this safely you need to send oil samples in at pre determined intervals for a spectrum analysis. You give the lab the details of your vehicle and the type of oil along with a fresh sample of good oil that you will be using for a baseline. You will want to change oil filter based on regular intervals of approx. 7000 miles. You can install a full flow oil filter with an intergal by-pass filter to extend the filter life as well

I use Rotella T6 and change when 25% left, that is around 10,000 miles, depending on use.

Have it changed twice a year, before we leave and when we get back. Use a local Diesel shop, brings out before and after oil samples and the old filter with last change date on it. Does oil, fuel and aux tank filters at the same time and uses what I bring him, total is $100.00 less than the dealer all in.

Own a 2013 Ford F350 King Ranch diesel. Bought it new, had dealer change oil in it twice. Now do my own with Mobil 1 Turbodiesel and Wix filters. Pushing 100,000 miles, chanfe every 7500 miles, sometimes more! So far, so good! Getting 16+ mpg empty, about 10.3 pulling 15,000 Montana out west. I love doing my own oil changes, air filtets, etc! I leave the fuel filters up to the dealer, and pay dearly for it! I love the peace of mind knowing which oil was out in, which filter was used, and when it was done! Still costs me over $100 each oil hange, but that's 13 quarts!

Been driving diesel trucks for almost 30 years (all Fords). Currently 2015 F350 SuperDuty Platinum. Best truck IMHO so far. FWIW Southwest Research here in San Antonio does a lot engine testing among other things. A good friend who ran the fuel testing lab there for over 35 years has told me not to trust the computers telling you when to change oil. He also told me that when he tested Royal Purple oil vs other synthetics Royal Purple was head and shoulders above the others when they tore the engines down after 100-300K miles (they have ways to put that many miles on an engine in a short time). While my current truck was still in factory warranty I changed the oil and filter every 5K miles. Once out of factory warranty I have gone to a complete oil and filter change at 10K and in between at 5K I change the filter and top off the oil. This is based on my friend's recommendation.

I go by what the computer says. Basically I never get the mileage, it's the time. My Duramax says "when the computer says so" or once a year, whichever comes first. As far as what oil, I've never been a proponent of synthetic, with a few exceptions. Some time back, a study was made on synthetic v/s "standard" motor oil. Took some New York taxis and had some with synthetic and some with "regular" oil. Tore the engines down at both 75,000 and 150,000 miles and found no discernable difference in wear. I have used both Chevron Delo 400 15-40 and Mobil Delvac 15-40 with good results and will continue to do so. The dealer does my oil changes, both for convenience to me and for warranty reasons. Right now, they are using Mobil Delvac.

Synthetic is better. That isn’t the question. Do you need it? The answer is probably no. A taxi is a lot different than our trucks. They aren’t pulling 12,000 pounds. They run easy all day and are never cut off.

Unless you are standing right at your truck when they pour the Mobil delvac in out of its container you have no idea what you're getting.
The only good part in letting them do it if they can't ever state that you used the wrong product

I use Amsoil. It’s supposed to be one of the number one rated oils on the market. I sware that when I go from stock oil to Amsoil I even get a mile or two better fuel wise.

Manufacturers spend millions for a small increase in fuel mileage. Don’t think for a minute that they haven’t already evaluated oil types and are using the most efficient oils in their new vehicles.
