Winterizing Valve

I'm winterizing my 07 3400RL for the first time and am confused about the winterizing valve that is located with the water conection and the hot water bypass. The winterizing instructions give no mention of this valve at all. Can one of you tell me what this valve does?

Thanks S. Fuego

That valve configures the on board water pump to draw antifreeze from the hose connection next to it rather than from the fresh water tank.

Hook up a short hose to the antifreeze inlet and drop the other end into the jug. Flip the lever to winterize, turn on the pump, and it will pull antifreeze from the jug and send it into your system. Then you can turn on each faucet until you see pink.

I assume you already know the rest, like:

It will take about 4-5 gallons, make sure the hot water tank bypass is off, etc.

In addition to bypassing the water heater and running each faucet, make sure that you drain the low point drain and also drain the water heater. I always turn the bypass back off and then put a little pink in the water heater. I also make sure that I push in the little check valve on the water fill. I think Steve Riegel told me about that years ago. Of course, Glenn will get on and tell you the best way to winterize is to stay in Florida. If you need, email me and I'll send a complete checklist of winterizing instructions that I put together for our first season.

Oops - you are right Kerry, I meant hot water bypass "on" or "bypass". Sorry Senor

For others information, I PM'ed the winterization instructions for the Splendide washers to Timothy. The instructions are in the owner's manuals which are available for download on Splendide.com on the support tab. PDF files so you gotta have Adobe Acrobat.

I shut the one bypass on the water heater and then winterized the W&D outlets, outside shower. inside shower, bathroom sink kitchen sink and low water drains just inside the cargo hole, after all this I still see 2 lines that have no pink solution in them. These 2 lines are in the area of the water pump but don't know where they go to or come from.
My other camper had 2 shut offs and a bypass to open on the water tank but this Mty has only one.
did I miss something??

Thanks for the information. I'm surprised that information is not in the owners manual. I'm using the compressed air method for blowing out the lines so I won't be worrying about the winterization valve. I used this method on my motor home with no problems. It seems easier and you don't have to flush the system when its time to use the trailer.

Thanks, S. Fuego
