Water Heater No heating

I have a suburban water heater. Gas/ electric. Electric side is the problem. Service has installed new element, thermostat and anode rod. We turn on power , it starts to heat as though everything is fine. We come back later to find Water gets Luke warm and then stops heating. I’ve check the outside shower and all water outlets to make sure the are off. Gas side works great. Everything check out ok on voltage and ohms. Any suggestions?

I just went through this, I pulled the water heater out and checked the connections in the junction box that is attached to the water heater. I re-did the connections with new wire nuts and re-taped the wire nuts, re-tighten the ground connection in the J-Box, replaced the element with a suburban element and replaced the thermostat.

Before I did all that I had done just as you did, new element and thermostat which it still did not work, the element was a cameo.

Anyways, I suspect the connection and/or the cameo element mite have been my issue

Did you have power at all. I have power. It heats until Luke warm . Then apparently stops heating. I’ve check the resets but they are not tripped. If it was a bad connection, I would think it would not heat at all.

Have you checked the element power at the wires on the element when it stops heating, also did they install the correct thermostat for 120V and is it a 130 degree stat.

It is possible to have a loose connection in the junction box, whether it’s a ground, neutral or the hot which is the power. When currant is demanded it crates heat and if there is a loose connection, the connection will loose contact with the other wire.

And yes mine showed power when I tested, that’s way I replaced the element with the Suburban element and re-did the wires in the junction box. One of those two where my issue.

There is another possibility, that rocker switch in the water heater has been know to cause issues as it is another point of connection.
