Length of Ownership

Purchased Tana in June of 2003.

We are fixing her up as need arises.

One huge reason for me, is that I do not care for the dark interiors ALL manufacturers are using right now.

This is purely personal, my own hangups, but, when I walk out of one of those dark units and back into my ole Heritage RV, Tana, in her golden oak, my mood lifts. Even though I use a lot of dark, rich colors for pillows and comforters and such, the walls are light, the cabinets are light, my heart is light.

Owned the last unit for almost 15 years. Guess we hang on to them.

We would rather fix what we know is wrong with Tana than buy new and face the quality control/unknown issues. Again, that is a matter of personal choice.

Roll on Tana, you ole Heritage RV gal! Love ya!

It seems since our first Montana purchase we have been trading about every 4 years or so and it looks like we will keep this one for a least that amount of time.

For us being Canadian we also look at the value of our dollar compared to the US$ as with these being made in the United States the simple exchange rate can add thousands of dollars to these units once they land in Canada.

This last unit we bought a year ago we sort of jumped on the bandwagon because we anticipated our dollar to loose it's value after a few years of being on par or above with the US$.

Since we purchased ours in May 2014 the simple exchange rate change has added 20% and up to the price of these on Canadian lots and each day I am shocked at how many people keep stepping up to the plate the buy at these inflated prices.

We won't even be looking until our dollar has a much more favourable value as I refuse to burn through thousands of dollars and not get anything more value wise in return.

We spend about 6 months of the year in our Montana and as long as there are no major problems we won't be trading up as I put too many hours into each rig with solar and other upgrades.

We do not live far from Canada here in Northern Ohio and we get there from time to time.

we can pick up CA $$$ at most any bank here in our area and we usually have 50.00 CA around the house. We normally use credit cards when in CA as it is less hassle and they charge the exchange rate on the day the transaction is posted. We have not checked the exchange rate for awhile and did not realize the big difference.

Not such a great time for our Canadian snowbirds preparing to go down for a winter stint with many wondering if they are able and willing to spend the extra dollars this winter.

Since 1974 we have owned 1 pop up ( camped in it one weekend), then bought. 17 ' tag a long, a very small class C, a new 24' tag along, a 30' class A MH, and got out of camping while boys were in school. Got back in with another small class C MH, then a new 1996 27' Sunnybrook Titan, then a new 1999 31' Sunnybrook Titan, then a new 2004 34' Sunny Brook Titan and then our new 38' 2013 Montana 358rlt Mountaineer. This is my favorite Rv, love the floorplan, which is why we bought the Mountaineer, and this one will take us on out of here. So all together this is ten forms of campers since around 1974 but a time of about 10 years when we didn't camp. We will keep this Montana until we decide to no longer camp. When it beacons we must go.

Our 2980RL is 11 years old still sound inside, and out so far. I would love to have a new rig but my age seems to have a big reason why a big NO comes up. another payment book at 72 just don't seem right.

Signature line tells the story, we are both still working and it took three tries to get what we feel is our perfect floorplan. We are both calling this model our retirement home on wheels, so unless something drastically changes, this will most likely be our last purchase. We have discussed possibly upgrading the truck, but with a 2007 pollution-add-on free truck with 64,000 miles, the truck may well outlive the rig!

Going on 13 years since we purchased our 3670RL. We love the floorplan (that they discontinued) and have never found anything better that we have liked. All original appliances and they all work well! I maintain mine for the most part and have no reason (yet) to get rid of it.

The factory tour guide was probably correct "on the whole". However, I'll bet the length of ownership gets longer as the price range goes up the scale. We owned our first Monty about 3 years, and now our second near the same. We upgraded in quality, quantity/length, and features along with truck upgrade. We have been pleased with our choice to trade. Once thought we would trade about every 3 years, but in the past 3 years don't see any technology changes or style/design that would make our rving better. We notice a lot of folks here on MOC that have a floor plan they like, and then have made many mods/upgrades that keep their RVs current or even better than OEM.

When we walked out of the financing office in Syracuse and headed across the floor, on of the personnel said "So this will probably be your last camper?" YEP!!! Providing nothing major happens. (Have a friend with a 2011 Cougar that blew a tire. It tore up the underside so bad with bent cross members, chewed up flooring, and other major damage that they are considering totaling it. Last word from him was "The battle lines are drawn.)

Maybe a new tow vehicle next year.

That doesn't seem right to me. We took delivery of our 2955RL in May of 2006, and have no plans to replace it in the near future.

We bought new in 07 3485SA 37' Montana. I fully expected to upgrade around 2014, we were still traveling and working full 40 hrs a week each. Then my DW was disabled and looks like we will have to keep the 07. When the parks won't let us in because its look to old or worn outside. I then will have to try and get a newer model, Not likely a new one.

Ours will be 11 years in February! There are many years of life left in it but we're ready for a king bed, larger living quarters and more counter space. Going from a 32' to 36' to maintain our enjoyment of state and national parks.

Well we pretty much wore out our 06 3400.We used it hard travelling many thousands of miles and spending long periods of time living in it. We got the 13 3402 in June of 2012 and the 06 3400 had no life left in it. It sits on a permanent site not moving which is a good thing. We are well on our way to wearing out this 13 3402.

9 years and still going strong here too. We've looked at the newer models and haven't seen another floorplan yet that is any better for us. This 2006 will be with us for several more years.
