3150rl

Now are thinking about the 2012-3150rl, since our truck may not have what it takes to tow the 3100rl. I am curious (without going back to dealer yet), does the skylight in the shower bother anyone since the bathroom is not in an enclosed area. Seems like it might light up the whole bedroom before you are ready to get up.......Any comments, good, bad, or other about this floor plan?

When we had the shower in the bedroom in our previous 2955 we put a velcro cover on the skylight at night. It solved the light issue. and yes it did light up the bedroom, good during the day hours but early am a definite negative. It cost about $11.00. Also helped to keep sun out on hot humid days.

We now have the enclosed bathroom and love it!

We have a 2011 and love it. We haven't had any issues with the skylight, but we tend to get up around 6 - 7. We also like the fact that while on the road that we can get to the kitchen, fridge, bathroom and bed if needed without extending the slides.

Ours is in an enclosed bathroom, but I can tell you from experience that you will want to put up the velcro curtain from time to time. When we boondock at a Walmart or a Pilot truck stop the street lights coming thru the skylight put enough light in the bathroom we can read in there. Handy if you can't sleep, but not something want to be able to control.

Same here.
No concerns at all with the skylight.

If we want to sleep in the morning we pull the bedroom privacy curtain past the shower and it tends to block out the light that comes in through the shower skylight.

The skylight does interrupt our sleep when the sun comes up. We don't draw the curtain because when we get up to use the separate toilet room, moving the curtain aside lets in the light.

To keep our bedroom dark, we use 3 thick padded vent covers that fit into the vent recesses - two in the bedroom area and one in the separate toilet room. We also use a large silver bubble wrap velcro'd to the skylight and two smaller ones to cover the side windows at the slideout on either side of the master bed and are just slid behind the day/night shades, and finally we keep the sliding door to the bedroom closed from the main area. Our room stays nice and dark until we want the light to enter when we want to wake up.

I can't comment on the floor plan except my preference is for a separate enclosed toilet room with nothing else in it. I do prefer the shower and lavatory separate from the toilet, but just because it's what we prefer.

One of the first things I did after getting the Monty was to remove the sky light cover on the inside and place some room darkening material above and in between the two skylight windows. We don’t like the light coming in from it and it will allow a tremendous amount of heat inside your camper as well. When trying to cool with only one A/C you need all of the help you can get. My preference would be to not even have a skylight. We done this in both Montana’s we’ve had.

We just hang our towels over the shower enclosure, which helps to block some of the light coming in the skylight.

And like Art & Margie, we have the silver bubble wrap to cover the side windows at the slideout on either side of the master bed behind the day/night shades.

We have the 3150 and I thought the skylight would be an issue but it hasn't been. There are covers you can put over them and they retract so if it ever is an issue I will probably go that route. We love our 3150 and are very happy with our decision.

We took the inside part of the skylight out and covered it with the film you put on windows to darken them. It is really rough to do since it arched and we had to cut the film and overlap it in numerous places. It darkened it some but we still have the foil bubblewrap with velcro on it in several places and matching on the frame of the skylight. We took queensize solid color pillow cases that matched the interior of the bedroom and slid them up between the day/night shades and the curtains on the slide out windows. They look just like regular curtains on the windows and really darken the room for sleeping even if we're parked near a light in the campground.

Joyce took pieces of black foam board and cut it to the size of the bedroom windows and that makes it dark as a cave. In the daytime we just slide them down next to the bed.

We have a 2011 3150RL and have no issue. We also added a 2nd ac. The shower cover is of little notice. Also, we are willing to sell it, please discussion thread in sale items topics if interested.
