3670 price

We put out 10 bids thus far to dealers around the country for the 3670 we are going to buy. In the first round of returns the best bid (on a MSVRP of 53,330.00) is 37,200.00. That includes about every option except the fireplace which we do not want and the artic package which we MAY get after we see exactly what it is on the factory tour.. that's just a Little over 30% off MSVRP 25% was my cut point. .I view that as the start point..My reply to the dealers that made the cut will be..you made the cut how about a 16K hitch and a deal on a trail-air pin box.To those that came in high...You were high bid but you may re consider and re bid if you want to...If you have purchased a 3670 or one in that price range recently..what are your comments.
Did a edit on the MSVRP,My calculator made a mistake (right)

Rich, it sounds like you've got a plan. We'd be delighted to get 27% off the price. I thought 25% was good. I would consider the Artic Package as it work with air conditioning and cold weather. We'll follow the same method when we start shopping for a new trailer.

Rich and Helen: Reconsider the Artic Pkg. As Judy mentioned good for the a/c and furnace. You should also consider an extra Fantastic Fan outside the shower area. As you can see we have a 3670 and we love it. We have the fireplace and would probably get another if we change rigs. It come in handy on a cool morning. We used it a lot in the RGV last year and saved using the furnace. Hope you are getting the High Gloss Gel coat. Can't comment on the price as we are Cdn. and had a trade-in. Happy dickering...keep us posted.

Bill & Ann, why the High Gloss Gel coat? And how much weight does that add?

When I sold RVs ten years ago, the dealer mark up was 40%. If the MSRP was $50,000, then the dealer paid $30,000 plus shipping and dealer prep. Of course, most mgfrs. will make up whatever MSRP the dealer wants. Also depends a lot on demand. Higher at the start of the model year, less at the end. Look on the data plate to see when the unit was built. If it has been on the lot for a while, you might get a better price. It never hurts to ask.

Dave and Cheryl (dsprik) It adds about 600 lbs to the weight which means it also decreases your carrying capacity by the same. Do a search on Gel Coat and I am sure you will find lots of info as this has been an active subject.
Rich and Helen: We also hit the warm weather in the winter but believe me wherever you go you will need a little heat in the winter mornings to take the chill off. The Artic Pkg. just helps keep the unit a little warmer and keeps a bit more of the heat out.

mobilrvn..Helen and I also sold RV's about 10 years ago.Worked for various dealers at RV shows.Your 40% markup is well within the ball park. That is why 25% off was our cut point and 30% off or better is what we expect to pay.Note that a Friend of ours got this unit WITH the fireplace and the artic package for 32% off MSVRP.(same dealership) The quote was for a ordered unit.Actually the dealer that did the quote Town & country in Clyde , Ohio is where we expect to get the RV. If there is anyone anywhere nearby that dealer and is looking for a mew Montana I would suggest you take a look.

Rich,
I found when I bought my 3400RL back in Jan of 2004, I got a better price by special ordering the unit just the way I wanted. I actually got more options on my coach then the one the dealership had in stock and paid $5,000 less for it. As far as the Hi-Gloss goes, I do not have it on this coach but the next one will for sure. In my opinion, well worth the money and heck at 11,000+ pounds your truck wont even notice that extra weight.

Second round of bids are in for the 3670 Low bid on a MSVRP of 53,453.00(slight price increase) is 37,986..We are looking for 30% off MSVRP which would be 37,418.00 so we are ABOUT 500.00 short but getting closer. It was not hard to get that bid. Dealer said they could get and install the Mor-ryde pin box and will return me a quote on that..it is 785.00 plus shipping from the factory..We are about 2 months away from order point..plenty of time to dicker...

Good Evening Richard,

You may already have answered this question, but I'm gettin older and forgot the answer if you did.

Most of the dealers I have been working with also have a couple of cost adders that include freight and PDI. How are you handling these two costs? Some say they are somewhat negotiable, some say these two costs are not. I have been told the freight is in the range of $1 per mile from the factory, and that the PDI is $500, and that both of these costs are addons after the discount on the trailer.

What have you found?

When I asked for a quote this fall from a dealer, he gave me an "out the door" price. I would make sure all bids that I get would have this understanding (on paper). I will follow Rich's procedure... and probably, since we're in the same general location in the midwest, I will get quotes from a lot of the same dealers. I plan on having a SD address prior to purchase to keep the sales tax down, but I would have the dealer include that also. "Out the door" means out the door.

The quote that I get is for the Rv only.About 1.00 per mile for freight is about normal as is the 500.00 for the PDI.I figure the freight to my dealer will be about 150.00 so we are looking at @ 650.00 in addition to the 37,986 quote..The dealer markup is @ 40% so the dealer has got@32,162 in the camper. His quote is 37,986.There is 5,824 in between. So the dealer could include the 650.00 for PDI and Freight and still make a respectable profit of over 5,000.00.I don't think he needs to make that kind of profit...This is just a example of how it COULD work. Sales tax will hard to negotiate. Sales tax on say 37,000 would be near 2600.00 and don't think the dealer could do much more....

When you go to sites like RV direct and RV wholesalers you see this 40% markup for yourself and it helps you to be a better buyer. The old saying "let the buyer beware certainly applies to RVs because if you let an RV dealer do it , he will skin you alive.

I got a good price from a US dealer and I found a Canadian dealer to match it. This price was 9000 below another dealer's rock bottom price. How do these guys sleep at night. Most of us are working people and 9000 dollars is a lot of money. I feel sorry for people who trust salesmen. Another gem when you see an RV with an undersized Tow Vehicle, " The salesman said it would be fine. " or the salesman says you don't need it. I am the one who will decide if I don't need it and I have been buying new pickups for 30 years and I know all about GVWR and GVCR and a few years ago someone was selling good sized Fifth wheels with a logo on their brochure that stated , "built to be pulled by today's half tons." What a joke! and I don't see that on the brochure anymore but how many misinformed people cooked thier trannies or overheated their engines because they were gullible enough to believe the crap some people spread around. Take care.

I actually had one salesman whose quote on the 53,453 MSVRP was 44,235.00 and that was his "rock bottom Price" I sent him a get well card..The dealer begins to incur expenses as soon as the camper is dropped on his lot so the less time is is there, as it is if you order one(,Arrives on the lot Monday, you pick it up thursday) the less it cost the dealer and the more $ you can save.Remember the customer pays for everything..there is NO buy 1 and get 1 free deal..you pay for both.On a camper that the dealer has say 33,000 in a 8 to 10 % profit would be acceptable..he has to pay salesman commission and most dealers have a daily "what it cost me to keep a camper on the lot" figure..if the mark up is 40% and you get a 30% off quote.there is still 10% to deal with and you can still work off anothet % or two....maybe... You save bucks..he makes bucks everyone is happy...

Well..so much for the 3670RL since it is being discontinued. We like what we hear and see of new and improved Montana, Docking station, The new front cap which looks a bit more aerodynamic and that ridge across the cap about 3/4 of the way down looks like keystones attempt to reduce the turbulence between the Tv and the camper. The Cleveland , Ohio Rv show is the first week of Jan but it is doubtful that the new models will be there..We will see what we can learn from the factory reps.We ARE going to the Toledo Rv show in late Feb where we will be able to see the replacement units and it is our plan to be able to order a unit at that time.We are disappointed that the 3670 is gone but excited at what we may find in the replacement.
