Tank Enzyme Treatment vs. Chemicals

Has anyone used the Happy Camper enzyme treatment system in their holding tanks? The distributor in my area and I talked for a long time about the benefits over using chemicals, which degrade significantly over 90 degrees ambient temperature. Plus, he claims you can use regular TP, without the fiber embossing in it, and it lasts forever, just mix it with water and put it in both tanks.

We use it all the time! Picked up our first container at a Rally in Perry, GA. I've used others but like Happy Camper best! Some use nothing at all except blue Dawn in the galley tank but I put the Happy camper in all my tanks. I carry some of the others, both enzyme and the chemical type, with us incase we run out of HC but haven't used it for over two years now.

I've been using HC for a little over a year, will not go back to chemicals. HC breaks down waste much faster.

Where can you get this stuff? I have yet to find it at a camper supply store and if you check Amazon for happy camper you get some kind of vitamin.

Is Happy Camper any different than Rid-X? It would seem both are enzyme treatments for septic systems.

Yes we do use it on occasion. any enzyme type additive is better than chemicals. Enzymes break down waste.

I have used Happy Camper for awhile now. It works really good. No smells. Have used it in the black and gray tanks.

I had some issues in January while dry camping. Lucky for me there was an RV show in Quartzsite going on. HappyCampers has two versions. One for everyday use and one extra strong designed to dissolve everything in the tank. The HappyCampers rep at the RV show told me that since I already had a can of the standard strength on hand I could just use more of the standard strength HappyCampers and it would accomplish the same end as the extra strength.
At that point the rep cautioned me to not let the stronger solution of HappyCampers sit more than 24 hours in the black tank. He said that there was a chance that the stronger solution could etch the inside of the tank AND affect the drain seals.
I always thought because it was natural enzymes it was harmless. Apparently NOT SO!
I have used HappyCampers for the last two years with out problems.
I ended up using UNIQUE RV Digest-It. Their rep assured me it would not harm the tank. 1 Quart ($10.00 at Ace Hardware) dissolves everything in the tank in 24 hours. Just a heads up. Hope this helps.
