Do NOT Winterize-Fridge ON or OFF?
I use my Monty in the winter but she is currently in covered storage and some cold nites are headed to Seattle. Is it best to turn fridge on or off in cold weather-or does it even matter?

The RV fridge works as a Heat remover not a cooling device (AC). Therefore if it is cold enough outside I would run with it off as long as the inside is cold enough for your liking.

Its in storage. I'm just worried in freezing weather if I can damage the fridge with it not running or should I turn it on?

Hi Jaybird, Leave it off, no worries as its a closed loop Ammonia gas system.

I store our Monte outside and not plugged in all winter long. I turn off the fridge totally, no gas or electric to it. I also stuff it full of crumpled up newspaper to absorb any possible moisture that may be in it or in the air. The newspaper also keep the refrig and freezer from forming mold over the winter by absorbing the moisture. If your unit is stored in a building, you could run the fridge but it is not necessary at all. Let us know what you come up with as a final decision!

We store ours unplugged the whole winter...even when the temp gets so cold here in Florida that you might have to put on long pants!

Shouldn't it just be left off and prop the doors open to keep it aired out? That's what I do with mine when it's stored. While I don't have to worry about freezing weather I think the fridge has a pretty low storage temperature range and the operating temperature range will be much higher. The operating temperature is the reason I wouldn't leave it on while in storage and it gets that cold.

My 2 cents...Our unit is stored in an enclosed storage area during the winter. We're talking winters of 20-30 below.
Turn it off, leave the doors ajar. Have had no problems at all.
