Property in Florida

Hello MOC,

I was wondering if some of you out there might be able to assist.

I would like to buy a piece of property in a rural area of Florida and use it for recreational purposes (snowbirding) and the like. 4 to 6 mos a year. Basically come and go as we please with the 5er, but definitely not a full time residence. Not a new idea I'm sure.

I am having a lot of difficulties finding out which counties in Florida still allow this type of use.

If someone can pass along some related info. I would appreciate it.

Depends what part of Florida you are looking at. I'm in Jacksonville (Duval) county. You can full time in certain places depending on the zoning of the property. Nearby, you have Clay, Nassau, Baker, Putnam and St. Johns counties that all have more rural areas where you can do pretty much what you want. Going west toward Lake City and Pensacola, there are several rural counties that allow RV's and trailers. Never looked further south than Flagler and Volusia counties though. We have been looking at selling the S&B moving further out in from town too. I'm a state retiree, so my insurance requires I live in the state. Only good for emergency care outside Florida.

We live in Naples Florida full time and were in a community HOA that allows for rv's or cottages. We own the land. You will need cash as most banks will not loan on vacant land in Florida, which in turn moves a lot of people to renting a lot as they do not have the available funds. We tried to buy land in the rural area of Naples but local codes prevented an rv from sitting on vacant land. as they require a home to be built with in 3 to 5 years if you decide to put a temporary dwelling I.E. the rv on the land. The pictures are of our home and if a huricane comes i can have the whole unit ready to move in about 8 hours as the screen room just bolts together.
