Progressive EMS 50 amp

Last year, off season, I bought a used Progressive 50 amp EMS. I finally got to use it this season. The first two times I did not have a problem and all readings seemed good. This week we have experienced some electrical shortages and I assume the Progressive did its job by shutting down the power to Monte.
What is the normal recycle time for the power to be transmitted to the RV? What if anything should I watch for? The campground checked the pole and did some work but claimed the electrical company has been working on increasing power to them.

Can't find my manual now, but I seem to remember that the self testing takes a couple of minutes before supplying power to monte. Watching the readout will tell you what voltage is on both lines, current being drawn on both lines, any error codes, etc. Best I can pull off top of head without my book. John

Once you are getting good power again the EMS should restore power to the coach in about 2 1/2 minutes giving the AC units time to reset and not damage the compressors. If you do have problems call Progressive. They're very good to work with.

When I pull in a site and first hook up it takes just a minute or two to fire up the rig, once the progressive is plugged in. Have never actually timed it, but pretty quick.

Send a message via AIM to stengels
When I pull into a site and hook up to the pedestal, it only takes about 30 secs to run through its check, at which time I have power to the rig. By then, I'm ready to unhook and level up. Others are correct, about 2.5 minutes from the time power is restored after an outage until rig is powered up.

Hi

I purchased a Progressive last March, It takes close to 3 min to turn the power on any thing less would be detrimental to your AC’s.

I did find out by accident that the Progressive will get water inside if not hanging vertical. Fortunately ours dried out and went back to working properly.

It's good to know there is suppose to be a start up delay and a recycling time with there is a problem. I guess I was too impatient waiting for the restart. The next time it shuts down I will pay closer attention to the codes.

Mine takes about 2 minutes and has a blinking red dot on the display during this time.

Time really slows down when your rig is hot.

I think there is a setting that can make the delay either 1 minute or 2 minutes - or some such.

You really don't want it to be able to come right back on. The AC compressors need time to equalize the pressure in the system before going back to work. Many AC units have that delay built into them, but some don't.

Codes are: E0- normal, E1- reverse polarity, E2- open ground, E3- high voltage line 1, E4- low voltage line 1, E5- high volt line 2, E6- low volt line 2, E7- high frequency, E8- low frequency, E9- data link down, E10- replace surge A code is stored after an issue until pedistal breaker is cycled, so the unit would have told you what the issue was. If the park was correct about power company issues, then you probably had a code/s of E4/6. John

I go with 2 1/2 mins for it to reset the power.

Unplugged it and turned off 1 a/c. Plugged it back in and power to Monte in 4 minutes. A few minutes later it turned the power off. Too hot to screw with so I disconnected the EMS. I will call Progressive tomorrow after we get home.

While in Florida last week, our EMS clicked off twice. Our neighbor had problems with their power going off so he called maintenance. They came and had to replace the 50 breaker due to it overheating. So glad that we had the EMS. No telling what kind of damage might have occurred if it hadn't been there. Money well spent.

They did work on our box when we first got here. Something about moving a leg to even out the power distribution. Really don't understand. We're going home tomorrow so a mute point right now.
