I got a 2000w (4000w surge) Power Tech On, pure sine wave inverter.
The actual 120vac output is from ground to hot, 67vac, from ground to neutral 67vac.
Total potential difference 124vac.
Apparently most cheap Inverters operate like this. Many generators do the same.
If you want the same output that you get from your home receptacle you will need to buy a Magnum or Xantrex inverter.
Just make sure you get a "pure sine wave" inverter.
Everything except for my Whirlpool microwave does work. The old HighPointe microwave worked with it.
I installed it on the wall above the batteries (shortest possible DC wire runs). From there I ran three 12 gauge extension cord wiring. One to the bedroom, one to the kitchen, one to the entertainment center. When not in use they are coiled up and hung up inside the pantry door. When needed, I unroll the cords to use. Everything in the entertainment center is plugged into a power strip. I unplug the power strip from the wall receptacle and plug it into the extension cord. The same with the kitchen/coffee bar. I installed a receptacle on the side of the dresser in the bedroom.
We don't do a lot of boondocking maybe a couple of times a year so this works for us.
Maybe down the road I will get motivated and install a proper transfer switch.
