Which power cable do you use when your unit is stored?

We moved our camper to a new storage facility that has 30 amp service for us. Not sure I want to leave my main 50 amp cord out all the time. Was trying to find a shorter option to be used just for storage.

What is everyone using? Was hoping for a 10' cable that has the 30 amp male end hard wired in so don't have to use a pigtail.

Also, does anyone know which battery charger/inverter comes in the 2020 high country 331rl? Wanted to research it a bit and make sure it conditions and will take care of the batteries.

Thanks!

The inverter doesn't take care of the batteries, it powers the fridge. The inverter, I believe, is a 1000w Magtech? unit. Your converter provides the charging power to the batteries, I don't know which one you have but probably wfco.

As far as charging at the storage facility; do they not have a 20A plug? If so just get a 50A/20A pigtail to connect to the trailer and plug an extension cord into it. If all you are doing is powering the converter you should be just fine. If all you have is the 30A I suspect you still have to use and adapter to get to 50A. There may be one, but I've not seen a cable sized for 50A with a 30A plug on the end or vice versa.

Unless you want to sit in the fiver and do something electrically powered ... just remove the negative battery terminal. I do and the battery(s) hold an adequate charge for up to 3 months for me.

If you happen to have a left over 30 amp cord from a previous RV, you can cut off the female end and install a 50 amp twist lock. I had one I carried with us for use at 30 amp only sites.

Thanks! Meant the converter

I was wondering if I could just use a shorter 30amp cord and change it the end to a 50 amp twist lock! Thanks, I don't have an old 30 but I will be getting one now and making it the size I need. Didn't know if it would be that easy!

I don't want to just run the 20 amp, as when I go to load, clean and start the fridge, I don't want to have to switch cables to run one a/c unit.

I leave mine plugged into a 20 amp when loading, have no issues at all running one of the A/C units. You would probably want to leave the refrigerator running off the inverter though.. Just my experience

for just keeping a maintenance charger going.. might look into a very small 100 amp solar system? i believe this would also keep your fridge working also. everything else turned off.
as it would be bolted to your roof, no fear of a power cord taking a walk.
as to when you are there you can turn off the solar and plug in your 50 amp cord.

Similar to Bob I use one of these with a 30A extension when I am at home.
https://www.amazon.com/Leisure-Adapt...to+30a&sr=8-11
I already had the extension for my generator so just got the adaptor.

I have a 30 amp cord with a 50amp plug I got from camping world(i think). I use it frequently instead of the 50amp. Trailer is plugged in now with said cable.Much easier to use, lighter and not as stiff.50ft.

I store my trailer at home. It's winterized and covered. I disconnect the batteries and shut down everything in the trailer, including the fridge. I open the fridge and freezer doors as well as open all cabinet doors and drawers a little. I use an adapter to a 15A plug which powers the converter and the small ceramic heater I leave in the trailer to keep the freeze off and a little air moving. Have done it this way for 35 years in all of our trailers and has worked well.

I ended up ordering these two items and will be switching over to them tonight.

I was trying to keep it easy as well as not have to leavey main 50amp cord out all the time.

That's the exact adapter I use as well. So far has worked great.
