Electric brake gremlin

I have been fighting with a electric brake gremlin for the last couple of years. my brake controller would show a short while going down the road..then it would go back to working within 5 minutes..then it would not do it for months..it would not stay shorted out long enough for me to find it..I tested all magnets..all were good..redone all the connections..inspected all the wiring for bare spots, did not find any..then at last they finally quit working about 2 miles from a campground.. finally had a chance to find the problem..there was a bare spot about 1/4 inch long in the wire that runs thru the front axel..it was located about a foot from where it enters the axel..

Glad you finally found it. Wiring can drive you crazy at times.

I have also had those same symptoms. It really became apparent in the rain, but like you, I never had the issue at a convenient time to track it down. I tried re-creating it at home with Debbie operating the brake and me messing with wires, with no luck. I never did find it, but it hasn't happened in a couple of years, so....

Pj and I did just what you did with the wires..when we drove over the fuel fills at a service station they would short out..but after we were over them the short would go away..it was very frustrating for sure..like they say...if it is not broke you cannot fix it...
