Dometic Air conditioner / Themostat
Hello all, I am here seeking more valuable knowledge. I just purchased a 2016 305RL. As it sits in my driveway I am going thru all the systems again to ensure I understand all the new bells and whistles. One of the differences is the single zone Dometic Thermostat and the 15.5K AC. It is a single AC in the living area ducted. So my question is... Are there multiple speeds to the fan for the AC? When I go thru the Fan Speeds Auto, low, high then set it to cool and lowered the temp I hear and feel no difference in output from any of the vents for any of the different fan speeds. MY Last camper AC fan had a high and low. Also today it was about 88 and the camper sat closed all day. I got home after 5pm and went in and turned on the AC. Inside was over 100, so I expected it to cool down some in 30 mins or so. Last camper would have been 15-20mins with the 13.5K (28' FW) The Air is coming out of all the vents with pretty good force and a very cool temp, but the cool down seems to take a lot longer. I know the temp the camper was will cause it to take longer but I am a little surprised. After approximately 45-60mins it was still pretty hot inside, maybe 80-85 and the water running off the roof from the AC was a constant stream. I was also on shore power on a dedicated 20A so I am also curious if it might have been under powered? I'll put in a dedicated 30amp in for it this weekend. Perhaps I just need my expectations set correctly but I wanted to ask to see if anyone had experience with this thermostat. Thank you in advanced,
-Steve

It's probably doing the best that it can with only one A/C. You might have better results if you had a second A/C, and this doesn't have anything to do with the way the A/C is ducted. Your rig is 35 feet long and you not only have to cool the air inside, but also everything inside, walls, floors, furniture, etc. That is why it is suggested to have the A/C(s) on early, so it doesn't warm up inside.

I agree that you should have a second a/c unit. Also you might reconsider and make that 30A hookup a 50A instead so you can run both a/c at the same time.

If your 15 K AC is a Blizzard NXT like mine it has low and high fan speed. The thermostat has fan selection of Low, High, an Auto. Most run it on high to prevent icing in the coils. You also may have been way under powered as that unit will draw just over 16 amps in high fan. Check your power with a voltmeter.
It also takes my fan a few seconds to shift gears in auto. It will stop and restart on the new speed.
You will want to pop your ac vent covers off and look inside the ducts with a mirror/flashlight or a cell phone camera on movie to make sure you do not have debris or bad taping of the registers. On some of our units they also installed ceiling registers with too long a collar extending into the ducts blocking airflow.
Some of us also have had issues with the thermostat not controlling correctly at temperatures near the set point. Many of us have added insulation behind the thermostat so it will measure room temperature and not the temperature in the non insulated wall.
On my Blizzard measuring the temperature of the supply air at the closest register comparing to the return air in the ceiling vents is 27 degrees different. It should be a minimum of 20 degrees. The temperature depends on the humidity and the temperature.
My unit has the darker colors with lots of black and the roof is not white but a dark cream. The colors raise the heat load significantly.

Remove and trim the vent duct bezels they are too long and restrict the air flow out of the vents and that might help a little bit. I only have 1 ac also so it will take time to remove all the heat from everything in the unit and also you might want to keep the air on but set it to 80 or so when you are not in it.

When fan is set to Auto it will cycle on and off with the compressorand automatic switch from Low to high fan speed depending on room temp and set point, set at High or Low it will run continually. On Hot Humid Days you what to run Fan on High continually
I have a 2955RL with two slides I am sure smaller then you unit.
No problem cooling with one Ac Unit and 30 AMP service
