Sink drains to black tank?

While researching a black tank valve problem, I notice a 3 inch and a 1 1/2 inch pipe entering the black tank. Tested it and the bathroom sink does indeed drain into the black tank. Is this normal?
At least there isn't much water from the sink, but still???!!!!
Anyone have same setup?

Must be due to the year and fact that it is a mountaineer. John

I used to have a SOB motorhome in which the sink in the head emptied into the black water tank. I left the water trickling at bedtime by mistake. Obvious, terrible results.

We have never had a trailer where gray and black shared the same tank. Have had multiple brands over the years, tag along and fivers.
