Soft spot

After we bought our new to us 2006 342 pht we realized that there was a small soft spot right in front of the breaker center next to the steps. I cut a small access hole and cant see the actual sub floor and am not certain how to go about fixing the spot before it gets real bad. It's right by the transition from vinyl flooring to carpet. Any help would would be appreciated

our soft spot is right at the front door, within 10 inches or the door frame. My RV tech suggest that we put a 2x10 up under the steps outside against the trailer frame and put brackets there to hold it. Has anyone had to deal with this ?

Thnks

Below that vinyl flooring is the wood floor, probably chip board. The soft spot should be taken out by first removing the vinyl...to be sure that all the damaged wood is removed. Once cut out, one can glue and screw one by four on all four sides of the hole so that you have a shelf for the new plywood to rest one...need I say this is glued and screwed to that hardwood you installed. First off thanks for being a Union Pipefitter. As for the floor I think I would try and get a peek from the underside to see what bracing you could do to support something like a 2'x2' or larger. The floor is an orientated strand board that I think is a little over a inch thick. If you could brace with angle or square tube underneath would work great. Something like a boxed frame that is through bolted to good wood placed at the new seams. Hope this helps and gives you another way to approach your problem. You might want to try and find the cause of the rotting while you are tearing into the job.
