Landing Gear/Front Jack Problem
While setting up today the left leg stopped moving while the right leg moved up/down normally. Electric motor appears to be ok and the cross connecting shaft rotates normally but seems to be 'disconnected'from the left leg mechanism. The left leg is now 'stuck'down or extended about 12 inches and hand-cranking has no effect except it still works for the right leg. It would appear that something may have sheared but not certain. Any ideas welcomed--can't set up and disconnect from truck at the moment. Also, who manufacturers the landing gear assemblies on our rigs? Thanks.

I believe there is a shear pin on the left side...

Believe Venture was the product source. You can pull the cap off the top of the leg and see the worm gear, which may have stripped.

happened to me at last years CPRR. The drive pin had fallen out of the bevel gear. Remove the top plate on your leg assembly. If your shaft is moving but the bevel gear isn't it is probably the drive pin. I have a drawing somewhere. PM me your email and I'll send it to you. Jim

Experienced same problem with SOB There is a shear pin where the cross bar connects to the jack. Just replaced it with a hardened bolt and problem solved until the gears stripped and had to replace single motor jack system with dual motor system.

Hi
Here are the drawings for the landing gear upper gear box and the installation in your trailer.
You may have sheared one of the pins holding the bevel gears inside the gear box or the bolt pictured on the left side of the installation drawing.

Suggest you consider Ultrafab independent Jacks. Not long after I had to replace the Venture Plastic Gearbox in Nov 14 (10 years old), the main (Right) leg failed about 12 "lifts" later. Replaced with the Ultrafabs. Two inependent jacks/motors are a little faster, slightly more jacking length and permit tweaking the side-to-side level more easily.

You could place a hyd. jack under the right side to remove the camper from our truck.
