Outside door opening

I took the Montana out for a short checkout run yesterday. Had a few bumps and turns ... not bad roads but ... the main door would fly open on turns. I had it well latched and locked. I am assuming the latch is not long enough. Does that sound right? How would I best fix the door?
Thanks
Dennis

Will the deadbolt not hold the door? When traveling we always put the assist handle across the door

Actually, you really don't want to go down the highway with the assist handle out. Folding it over the door would keep it closed. On the other hand, if your sure your door is actually latched when you start out something is wrong. Never had a door come open and I've hit holes big enough to knock the trim off the slides. Of course I had the handle folded over the door the whole time.

Sounds like a door latch replacement to me. Have had to replace a couple over the years. Bought replacements directly from Fastec

Thanks for the replies ... After the first time it opened we put the handle over the door and that did hold it in. I guess we need to find a latch replacement.
Thanks
Dennis
