50 amp surge guard dies

Plugged in 50 amp surgeguard to pedestal and it started making grinding and popping noises. Unplugged it, connected trailer without surgeguard and everything works. Called Surgeguard this morning, and tech said those noises indicate unit is dead and must be replaced. It's five years old, and was working fine on last trip 3 weeks ago. He advised no warranty.
So, ordered the 50 amp Progressive electrical management system, which has a lifetime warranty.

It's a mystery, as unit has been stored in front storage compartment, nothing has changed. Now one week at a park without protection. Not crowded, so power should be stable - I hope!

And Progressive does replace any unit with problems or concerns.
I know from experience.

Have heard of this before. In fact, from someone just before I made my decision on brand. Went with Progressive and have been happy ever since.

We had a surge gaurd went bad about the same age it actually caused an electrical surge and took out some of our appliances. No warranty what so ever from them. Same as u without the surge gaurd no problems. We replaced with the progressive due to no warranty and poor customer service.

Our first Surge Guard took a lightening strike and saved our rig, but no longer worked, so bought another one and it melted at the pedestal plugin and of course out of warranty. Now have hardwired Progressive with inside monitor. Sometimes it just takes me a little longer to get on the right track.

I have 50 amp surge guard hard wired and have not had any problems so far, it is about 3 years old. I wish I had gone with the Progressive just due to the reviews on this site and the warranty it comes with. Owell it is just money!!!

You will not regret the Progressive unit at all. Great Choice!

My Progressive went bad about 2 years ago, after using it for about 5 years, and they repaired it with no questions asked. Only cost to me was to send it to them. Excellent company to work with and their warranty is Outstanding!!
