Fresh Water Problems.

Last year we bought a Montana 3605RL and have problem with our fresh water. It seems after we fill the tank and go on a trip the first time you use the water it comes out almost carbonated and smelly. After running it for awhile the situation lessens but does not completely go away. Does/has anyone had the same problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

you need to sanitize your holding tank. add I believe about 8 oz of bleach to it, run it thru your lines and let it sit. dump tank after sitting add fresh water and flush out lines with clean water. All trailers will get this problem after sitting. The water gets bad (could use a lot worse word here) when sitting for extended periods. Most of us have had the same problem

use 1 cup of bleach per 60 gallons of water..run it thru all faucets..let it set for 3 hours at least. Drain refill with fresh water and run thru all lines again to remove bleach smell. Drain again and refill with freshwater.

We add a cup of baking soda to our fresh water tank several times a year to keep the tank operating at an acceptable level- The baking soda won't do any harm to those who use the water and is tasteless when used with a full tank- We have carried water for weeks and never had a taste or smell- Hope you find this useful in your unit- Don

My mom always told me to use the bleach solution first, as stated by Thunderman, drain then refill the tank with the baking soda solution, as stated by DonandJudy 12, drain and then fill with fresh water. Before we fulltimed, we followed this procedure two or three times a year depending on how long the rig had been sitting in between trips. Now that we use the tank more frequently we add a heathy squirt of bleach every once in awhile to keep the critters down.
