AM radio reception

Having worked with the entertainment center in our new 3465SA, I have figured out everything except the AM side of the tuner. All I get is static where there are good strong local stations. Any advice as to what needs to be done? There is no outside antenna on this unit as there was on our previous unit.

Would it feed off the TV antenna so that it needs to be up and the boost switch turned on? Come to think of it, I have never tried my AM radio. More homework for myself.

Check the wiring from your entertainment center to the AM antenna which is probably located on the wall to the rear of the area where the TV is mounted. Depending on what surrounds/blocks the antenna inside and outside your rig, will effect signal strength. If the antenna wires are not seated properly, this will also reduce the AM signal.

Our AM radio has never worked either. The antenna appears to be a rectangular loop that lays on the floor of the cabinet behind the receiver. No matter where we move it all we get is static. The FM side is so-so.

Our experience is similar to Navigator's, The exception is we do get some AM stations but it is few. Moving the rectangular antena helps both AM and FM but not by a bunch. Pretty limited reception even in the middle of Suprise Az. with not much to interfer with the signal. Some day we will look into buying a better system.

Joe,
Try raising your TV antenna and turning the booster on. In our new 3455SA I have to do that to get FM reception for some of the weaker stations in our area. I assume it would work the same for AM. We have the Samsung system but it doesn't even have an AM side according to the user's manual, but does use the TV antenna for FM.

Joe, Check behind the unit and see if there's a loop antenna stored back there. Even with the antenna strung out, it still would not pick up a station . Bill

I've even run an antenna wire to the roof...still lousy reception.
