New Montana Mountaineer
Hi Everyone,
We are new to the Keystone Montana Brand and New to the Fifth Wheel world. In the past we owned two TT. We decided this year we would purchase a new fifth and try that out. We have been doing weekend camping for about 8 years and finally decided that we enjoy it enough to invest a little more money into the RV. Living in North Dakota we were a little hesitant to invest so much money for such a short camping season.
We purchased a 2014 Montana Mountaineer 310RET. I am so excited for all the space. Our current TT has the back bunks and we feel this is a lot of wasted space. Now that the kiddos are older and we only have our 13 year old at home we thought it would be a good time to invest in the living space. Not sure if I am going to like our daughter sleeping in the LR but we loved the look and space in the Mountaineer. Most of the time she wants to sleep outside in a tent with her cousins anyway. I told if worst comes to worst she can always put a bed in the master bed closet.
Excited to learn from all of you. A little bit about my family.
My husband and I have been married for 23 years (we were HS sweethearts) He is the Supervisor of our local Road Maintenance Department, I am currently the CEO of a small non-profit organization in which I helped start about 2 years ago, prior to that I was a Dean of Students at our local community college. We have 3 children. Our oldest son (21) attends college at NDSU---GO BISON! as a mechanical engineering major, our second oldest son who is 18 attends our local community college as a civil engineer major, and our youngest is our 13 year old daughter who basically has made it her life mission to drive her mom and dad crazy!
We camp most of the time around the Devils Lake ND area. The fishing in winter and summer is about the best you can get year around.
Nice to meet all of you!
the Fredericks

Welcome to the forum!!
I do not think you will be disappointed with your choice. We have been full time in our 2007 Mountaineer for almost 3 years and have had only one problem that was not self-inflicted.

Welcome to the MOC family. You will glean a wealth of information and friendship during your time here. As a Canadian we have driven thru Devils Lake on our way to one of our favorite campgrounds in East Grand Forks, looks interesting, will have to stop some time.

Welcome. We too are just now getting into the 5th wheel life style. I see you are familiar with Devils Lake in ND. I spent 4 years at Minot AFB (76-80) and very familiar with the area. We have a sister in law and family living in Wiliston ND. Wish you the best for RV living.

Thank You all, we live in St John, my family and I are enrolled members of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. DarMar-my home is located about 5 miles from the Canadian border. We frequently camp and fish at Pelican Lake and Rock Lake (both are about a 35-45 minute drive from our home. I think I have stayed at the East Grand Forks campground you mention-is it the one next to the river, just as you pull into EGF from Grand Forks? You need to visit Grahams Island State Park near Devils Lake, this is a beautiful campground with nice big campsites, large bait shop and convenience store, and nice big showers. We love to stay there and it has a marina with easy boat access.
igs90249-Minot AFB is about 80 miles from our home, since we live in a rural area we frequently visit Minot for shopping.
Thank You everyone for the warm welcome.

Yes that is the one just after you cross the old steel bridge in to Minnesota, absolutely love it. We will put Grahams Island on our list, thanks.

Congrats. We got the 331RLT last June and are thoroughly enjoying it. A couple minor issues but the layout has been great for our 1st snowbird trip. We have so much more room than our previous 5er. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

We have had our 2015 310RET since August and love it. I will tell you that the fresh water tank will not hold the 64 gallons as advertised. The tank is only about 8 or 10 inches high and the overflow is set to low, thus you will probably only get 48 to 52 gallons in the tank. Plus if you fill it and then drive somewhere more will slosh out as you travel. (I have a hose flow meter that mounts on a hose so I was able to confirm this problem).
My dealer wanted to keep a happy repeat customer so he replaced it with a 72 gallon tank and raised the vent line. Now it holds 72 gallon!
We love the rig and couldn't be happier! Best of luck with yours.
