changes from 2010-2015

Hi all, I am happy to report close to 100% satisfied with my Montana and quality, after reading so much negative feedback lately. Couple tiny issues is all. Ok, my one and biggest let down is, noise. I first had a 2010 3150 rl, this was an awesome coach, my DW just felt a little claustrophobic in it, so we traded it in for a 2015 3582 , again has been a great coach, my only complaint is noise. My 2015 is like sleeping in a tent, we hear everything, my 2010 was like a vault, it was so much quieter inside. Ok, finally, just asking you folks that have had different years or have gone to the factory know what they have done different in the build process? Just curious as I know I cant change it now, I am glad that is my only issue, not quality issues. Thank the good lord for that. Thanks

I have had a 2004,2012 and now my 2015 and I have not noticed any noise difference ,did you have Dual pane windows in your 2010??? that cuts down on noise I heard(never had them)

My 2013 is not the quietest thing we have owned. I can hear conversations outside when laying in bed. I think this is due to the HUGE slide that is close to 20' long, which means a lot of slideout seal area. Also single pane windows...bummer. john

Our 2005 3400 and 2010 365 Big Sky did not have dual pane glass. Our 2015 3160 does have dual pane and is much quieter. Not enough to keep Goshen train noise out completely, but better. As Bigskyjimmy suggested, that could be the difference.

Our 2015 is comparable to the others we have owned in terms of noise. Quality of carpeting, quality of furniture, quality of cabinetry, frameless window durability, frig reliability, overall build quality, not up to the same standards as our old units, our 2010 had the least problems of them all and we wish we had kept it.

I guess one bonus for us hearing things outside is we winter on the Wash coast with very few people in the campground and all we hear every night is the Ocean But anyway I have NEVER had a 5th wheel where I did not hear my Neighbors in my bedroom in the morning talking if they are parked next to me

We find that our 2015 3790RD Legacy Package is no where near as quiet as what our previous 2010 SOB was. In our old 2010 SOB we could be sitting at the dining table and people could be right outside talking and we couldn't hear them or nor could they hear us. In our Montana we can hear people talking outside. Both trailers have dual pane windows.

The double pane windows he,played keep noise to a minimum. No issue at all with outside noise in the rig.

We see plenty of technology changes since the 2006 3400 we had but little, if any in the way of quality.

I have to agree with the original poster. We have had a 2004 - 2980RL, 2012 - 3100RL and our current 2013 - 3725RL and the latest one is the noisiest of them all. We can hear everything outside. I forgot to ask the people when taking the factory tour what they have changed. Have to remember that question for next year!

glad to hear everyone's thoughts on this, as I said not a big deal, was mostly just curios. And no my 3150 rl did not have dual pane windows. A couple of my thoughts were the new frameless windows now used, The new "vaulted" round ceilings, maybe the fact the newer models are higher off the ground and possible not a big deal, sound entering from underneath the coach. the new quiet AC used. Whatever it is as I stated is not a big deal, I am thankful for the LACK OF complaints and build quality issues. Both have been trouble free units.

In our stick and mortar house in Tahoe, all construction is 2" x 6" and R19 minimum in the walls, and dual pane windows because of snow etc., and I can hear our neighbors who are 100+ feet away at night, if they are being rambunctious? So I figured sleeping in a 2017 3820FK Montana with 2-3" thick walls, would not be anything close to my stick and mortar house, so I can not complain about noise. We have a bunch of small issues we have been fixing one by one. Still can not figure out why a Newmar King Air or Prevost is 10x the price of our Montana's?

Chassis on both of your examples are beefier, certainly the prevost by far. Prevost has an engine/tranny/etc that will do close to a million miles, prevost have hydronic heating systems with stone flooring, prevost are held to higher dot safety standards than trailers which means every part is heavier with coach weight more than double anything in montana land. Don't know a lot about the newmar except built by a class a manufacturer with a different headset than a trailer manufacturer trying to build as cheap as possible and they are heavy. The other thing to consider is that lower build numbers equates to higher cost in manufacturing. My guess is that prevost makes less units in a year than keystone makes in a month by far. John

Re the noise issue. We never had dual pane windows on either of our Montana's. The specs on the dual pane windows show the insulating factor is practically northing and the nose reduction factor is low. We did not think it worth the $$$.

We do stay in moderate climates year round.I am sure the noise is reduced somewhat but not to the tune of what the windows cost. Just my opinion.
