I can't imagine anything worse than camping on the beach and having to pack up and depart in a monsoon rain storm with those steps packed full of wet sand and having to fold them inside your camper

The above is one of the drawbacks, or curses, I mentioned previously. We try to mitigate the problem in several ways; we always have a large mat, or mats, on the ground to reduce sand and debris carried inside. I keep a brush "boot scrubber" beside the door to clean the sand off shoes. We keep a rug inside the door which also stays under the steps when it closes and then we carry a brush and blower to keep the carpeted steps clean.

We do all those things also in an attempt to keep the sand out but it's nearly impossible to keep it all from getting in.

I would bet if the time ever came to remove the carpet and replace it with hard floors we could probably turn it upside down and dumped 50 lb of sand out of it. Lol

Yep, no matter how much we blow, brush, clean the steps I close them very softly because I know that 50 lbs. is hiding in there somewhere. Upon arrival at the next stop I generally find about 5 lbs. of it has found its way out....

I never liked the new MorRyd steps. Fortunately my rig didn't have them. Unfortunately the old style steps we had were bouncy and very uneven and only 3 steps. I think one step was 7 inches, one was almost 9 inches and the other was like 8 1/4 inches. Very uneven going in and out. I found the Glowsteps, but they were like 29 inches wide. My mounting brackets were 28 inches and I was afraid to tackle replacing that somehow.

So I searched and found a regular set of steps that fit and had almost exactly the same distance on the steps and there were 4 steps not 3. Easy install.
However, i would have liked to get the Glowsteps. Oh, well.

I know they make the glow steps in different widths and certainly three four five six steps

The mandatory and quarterly "I hate my new steps"

I installed the LCI version with the 1.5X wider top step after my wife had a near calamity with her already wrecked back while using the OE springboards. We are both very happy with the new steps. Even our two pups can use them better

Any minor inconvenience ... IMO,is just that. I'm all for the added safety with the new steps, whether LCI, MORryde or Glowsteps.

I agree with the stability of the Morryde steps. Besides, Keystone knew you'd be tracking stuff inside, that's why they put in the built in vacuum.

Another issue I have with any of the steps that fold into the camper is the fact that I place many items just inside the door right before any trip.

With the steps folded up outside and not in the way I can easily slide a heavy cooler/ an extra propane tank for the grill/ last minute container of whatever clothes shoes accessories on the floor just inside the door and be on our way.

one heck of a paragraph regarding morryde steps. you can always change out to the lippert pull down steps which are similar.

Love our solid steps. The dirt is not an issue.

Did we ever have problems with the old steps before the new ones came out?

I like the stability of the MorRyde steps, my wife loves them ... so, happy wife, happy life

However, they do have their drawbacks that have already been discussed (dirt and water). One other drawback that we have encountered twice. We have been in a position where the "patio slab" would be several inches higher than the parking pad. This kept us from being able to fold the steps down far enough ... IE, the door would not close, even with the extendable legs completely removed. So, had to move the FW further away from the patio.

I now check the steps prior to unhooking from the truck.

I think that one could say that nearly every choice available in an RV is a compromise.
You pay your money and take your choice!

I've got two sets you can get.
Came off my 3750fl when I installed my fold down steps. One of the best mods I've done .
Love em.

I really don't like the spring assisted ones where there's a thing in the hallway to smack your bare foot on. Nothing says good morning like a good old smash your foot into a sharp chunk of metal first thing.

We have the MORryde steps, but they stay at our Winter Site. We discovered the draw backs when traveling shortly after purchase. Since they were an upgrade for us our original fold down steps are still there.
So I drilled out the rivets attaching the steps themselves to the hinge and replaced with pins. Love them for long term stationary time during the winter, but prefer the fold downs for Summer travels and shorter term stays.
