Entertainment center smoked glass

Recently purchased a 2021 Montana 3121RL. Absolutely love the coach , still learning things . The issue I noticed this week trip is the smoked glass door over the entertainment center won’t stay open . You have to hold the glass open and try to load dvd. Makes it a little difficult . I saw a couple videos online where the glass door actually swings down . Wondering if mine just might be installed wrong . Any suggestion appreciated .

Others with the same model can probably shed some light on your specific issue with the glass but our 331RL MHC has the glass that swings down. Trying to hold it up seems illogical.

The one on our 2018.5 3791RD also opened upward and was a PAIN.

Ours swung up too. But I removed it and the Jensen stereo replaced everything with a filler panel, Blu-ray and Bose Solo 5. Much happier with this setup.

A lot of folks have added small gas shocks to those doors that open up.

Mine stays up sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. I have never figured out the trick to how it is supposed to work. I recently took the glass off to work on the antenna to the radio. I did not see any springs or special do-dads on the hinges. I think I will try “talking sweet” and positive reinforcement to see if it stays up better.

I didn’t see any do dads or gadgets either . After a few minutes of holding it up and trying to turn off the speaker Zones and loading a DVD , my talk wasn’t so sweet , maybe I’ll try talking sweeter next time.

You can take it off and turn it upside down. Now it will open down.
The "downside" to this is it opens when you are driving down the road.

That is easy to fix. We flipped ours so it opens down rather than lifting it up. Many ways to restrain that door from opening while in travel mode. We don't have time to create a more permanent solution yet (other pressing needs), but for now we are using a bent coathangar that slips under the TV and over the edge low enough to hold the glass from falling down. Works like a charm. Cheap looking but for a temporary fix it does the job. Glass did not fall on first/only trip since we did the mod. I have other ideas but I'm not going to over think this minor problem. The radio is worthless anyway so another solution that works with a new A/V receiver is in the works.

In older models this panel use to open down. People would forget to close it when closing slides and destroy them among other things. Then in the infinite wisdom of some engineer they changed it to open up so it will self close to prevent damage. I personally removed mine. I think it looks fine without it. We have a 2020 3790RD

Has anyone hooked up their TV to the speakers on the front by the radio? We asked at the dealership that we bought our 3121RL and they didn’t think so.

A lot of people take it off, others add gas struts. Ours works fine because ours uses a compression hinge. Not sure if they all do or not but you can adjust these to hold the glass panel up. There should be a M5 threaded screw that you can adjust behind a plug. If not add one of these: https://hingesandlatches.com/products/96-10-572

If you just have the speakers in the front and not in the ceiling route the sound output from the TV to the aux input on the receiver. Should work.

The HDMI cable between the TV and AV unit was not plugged into the AV unit on our new rig. That prevented the HDMI ARC link from providing TV audio to the AV unit speakers. After plugging it in to the AV unit, the DVD player video would work as well. The cable was routed but not plugged in.
