Campgrounds filling up fast for Memorial Day
I have tried 3 campgrounds already and they are filled, one state park, one county park and a private park! Every year it seems to be filling up earlier and earlier. Maybe Gas prices have something to do with it this year, folks not going to far or there is just that many more that are RVing! I kick myself every year b/c I should know better than to wait. One park opened for reservations on April 2 and by April 5th all the electric sites were gone..now that is fast. (It is a beautiful park, with big spacious sites, large lake and beach area.)

campbud, I gave up on Memorial Day about 10 years ago; just too many people. Since Marsha and I both teach, we wait another week or so and then head out. Easier to secure a spot and definitely less crowded! This is the same reason we do not go on July 4, but I have had reservations for Labor Day for about two months.

Thanks for the reminder, I have Memorial Day taken care of, but have not done Labor Day yet. We full time and I wonder about how far ahead I should think.

I have found around here that the campgrounds where we usually go for Labor Day—along the South Carolina border—are pretty much booked up if I wait until too late in June.

I always book Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day in January/February. I could not get into my choice campground for the 4th in February they were already booked solid. Other dates do not book up quickly, but if you want a favorite site at a favorite campground on a holiday you have to plan ahead. Have a wonderful summer!!!

We have a group of friends that enjoys the rivers around New Braunfels, TX during the summer. For many years, the group has assembled at Hueco Springs outside of town. Like everywhere else, it's a madhouse during the holiday weekends. Starting a couple of years ago, we made our reservations for the weekend before Memorial Day. This has worked out VERY well. The local shops and vendors are pretty much geared up, but the parks are less than half full. Same for the weekend after Labor Day.
