Oregon

I got a news flash yesterday that Oregon is going to stop selling diesel by 2030. Does Oregon even know what day it is? I guess this will kill the trucking forestry and the RV industries.

Most of there issues up their is because of there own demise, they were allowing vehicles that don’t pass emissions in other starts to be sold in their state. Hundreds of thousands of big rig none compliant trucks have been sold in Oregon. Oregon is trying to reel in the sins of the passed but I haven’t read anything about stop selling Diesel. Wouldn’t surprise me as California is wanting to stop selling all fossil fuels by 2035 or 2045.

Do you have a source for this announcement?

Having a lofty goal in one thing but achieving it is quite another. I have no problem with setting renewable energy goals but getting to them will take a lot of effort and dedication to the effort. I do not see very many people putting in the level of effort that will be needed to achieve the goal in 15 years. As they say "Necessity is the mother of invention".

Not selling "diesel" is a bit of hyperbole:

Kind of reminds of Saturday morning "School House Rocks" series..."I am just a Bill." A state legislator introduced a bill, last I checked it was not even out of committee. Long way to become law. However that said Oregon is one of only two states that don't allow you to pump your own gas (unless you live in the toolies).

I suppose that consuming gasoline at 5-6 mpg is better than burning diesel at 10-11 mpg? As an RVer, if there is anything you want to see in that state it may be a good idea to go see it and be done with them. No telling if this or other regulations will effectively end what we enjoy doing up there.

That would be as dumb as the Atlanta Mayor a very few years ago wanted to make all big rigs park during "lunch hour" to ease traffic congestion. I wonder where he was going to park them all!

With all this EV talk you would think that they would consider how many chargers they would need because it takes more than a hour to charge at a public charger. As a American I hate waiting for some guy to wash his windshield knowing full well his pump has shut off and they think they are the only one in line. EV may sound like a good thing but once you taker it off the paper it falls apart. This may work for a person who never leaves town but for RVer's and truckers farmers this is a no go. Could you imagine a electric tractor plowing a field?

A discussion of fact, the introduction of legislation is fine. But comments which express a political opinion are not.
