Over night stops
When you are traveling and stop overnight in a parking lot and open your slides and stay hooked to your truck do you unplug the power hook up to the truck or leave it pluged in? Do not want to have dead battery in the truck the next morning. Also I have two deep cycle 12 volt batteries in the trailer.

Late model Fords have an isolation switch built in that shuts off the power to the plug when the engine isn't running. I'm not sure what year they came in so what I would do with your 02 is test the plug with a test light or meter and see if it shuts off when you shut the truck down.

My 2001 Ford has the isolation sw as part of towing packag. You may have it also just check with a meter.

I carry one of those emergency start battery packs with me in the truck wherever I go. It's saved mine and others many times. I even had a battery issue with the Monty once and used that to close my slides. It's cheap insurance and it keeps you from having to jump start someone who's electrical problems might damage your truck.

Ditto unplugging. Only takes a minute and why take the chance. Just remember to plug back in the morning before heading out.

I leave ours plugged in. No voltage at the plug when ignition switch is off. Have been doing it this way for 11 years now.

I have always unplugged, just don't want to get up in morning and have a problem starting truck. I usually lay a note on truck steering wheel to plug in.

I've been RVing for over forty years. I never unplug. Only problem I ever had was in 1972 at Disneyland. In those days the refrigerator had a three way power switch so you could run on 12 volt when driving. I forgot to switch over to gas when we parked for the day and killed the battery. I have two batteries in the rig and two in the truck. I can't see how I could ever run them down overnight.

We do not unplug. We have a 2002 PSD 7.3 Ford. Have never had the dead battery problem due to leaving trailer connected. But as suggested..... Either test it or disconnect. Better safe than sorry. Good luck and Happy Trails. Dennis
