Aiming the Wingard Batwing
A friend sent me this FCC website to help with aiming the batwing antenna for the best television reception results. Have just used it once in Punta Gorda, FL but it worked great. Anyone else using it, please let us know how it worked and where.

Jim,
That is great. Will bookmark, too, for times on the road w/o cable.

This site TV Foolis very similar. But, it shows all the local transmitters, even the ones that are very weak, and lets you change the antenna height. And, if you really have to have tv, it even shows where you'll have to set up to get a signal.

I've been using this one. It gives me direction in degrees to each tower based on the exact address I give it. It shows me the location of that address complete to the block and allows me to move it a little. I like the others posted here, too, and have bookmarked them. It's always good to have multiple choices. I like having direction to each station so I can point more towards those we want to watch.

For those of us with Android phones there's an app called DTV Antenna Locator that lets you search by zip code, full address, or by your GPS location. I've only used it in our current location, but it seems to work well.

I just put it up and then rotate until I get the best results. Is this other way better?

I have always just rotated the antenna until I got the best picture. The locations sounds great, except how do you aim the antenna? What part on the antenna do you point towards the station?

The flat part or the part that the adaptor was placed on. This gets me close and saves spinning it all over the place looking for a signal.

I had looked it up on the web since I posted the question. That's what I founded out. It's strange that Winegard does make a statement on how to do it. I guess that it's simple enouth for the average person.

I'm in luck... I tried all the links provided except for the Android app. I am at 100% confirmation of what I suspected. I can get one TV channel that I don't care about and one other that's pretty weak, all the others are pretty much no good. In other words, NOTHING, NADA... Where we moved from before I retired there were over 20 strong local channels I could receive, but since I was working I didn't care what we paid for tv shows. I'm lucky because I did not get surprised by anything.
Since I need satellite or cable at this stickhome, and I also happen to have a rig, satellite it is. I try not to mess with the Winegard. When I'm messing with the tv reception, DW brings along a whole bunch of DVDs until I can get it straightened out. Sometimes it's a couple of days, and horrors, then we gotta talk to each other.
Thanks for this topic because it was great to prove I am pretty much FUBAR at the stickhome and why I'll be paying for television to keep DW happy.

If I ever decide to plug the TV in, this will come in handy.
