Jim and Carol, I'm glad to hear you both are ok and the damage was "relatively" minor. I see you have the 2005 6.0L. We had the same truck and twice blew off that turbo hose. The second time we were told Ford had issued a new clamp design because of that problem being so common. After the dealership installed the improved clamp we put another 65k or 70k on the truck without it happening again. My bet is yours was one of the older style and the replacement would be the improved version. Never heard of a Dodge doing this, by the way, but I imagine it can happen on any of them. Amazing how much that turbo helps performance, huh? Enjoy the rest of the trip.

Thanks, all, for your kind words. Don, we just got this truck a couple of months ago and, to my knowledge, it is not chipped. The guy from the repair shop said that this happens quite frequently, more in Dodges than others. Said it is probably just a stress fracture. He is at the top of a 5 mile, 6% grade so I imagine he sees a lot of stress problems. He does repair work for the Arizona State Police which are as stressed a fleet as one could find.
Oh great! Thanks Jim, now I have something else to worry about, well if it happens I know what it sounds like for sure, but as Steve said the new clamps and new hoses are a big inprovement for a good fix on the hoses.

My guess a 6.0? Thank god you and your equipment ar ok. I have seen the clamp on that hose break and/ or come loose. Its not a bad idae to carry a 3 inch hose clamp and some electrical tape or duct tape. if a clap should fail wrap thehose wit tape and use the hose clap as a temp fix. Youtube.com has some great videos about the various motors care and maintenance.
Happy camping!!!

2003 Ford 250 6.0 diesel, towing 2955rl, turbo hose blew off climbing a hill, pulled over and re-clamped the hose checked
engine light stayed on pulled into a walmart for the night found a dealer next day, supposedly replaced the clamp and
reset the engine check light cost $100. Was on the road for two weeks no problem, then on returning home 1 hour away going up
a small hill, BAM, off again, re-clamped got home ok. Next day went to local ford dealer, after pleading my case in not a very
polite manner (cause they would not listen) keep in mine I only had 23,000 miles on the truck, so I pleaded pretty hard. They
checked their computer records and notice a year prior they replaced a turbo with similar problem, so my truck got a 9438A
turbocharger assy and 9438AZ assy and 9438A3 pedestal-turbo all for no charge except labor $539.95.

I am mechanically challenged (Carol calls me the Master of Disaster) but between the Monty and the 6.0, I am learning more all the time.
