PID Checklist for 3400RL

If anyone has a good checklist for the 2010 Montana 3400RL, I would like to have a copy. e-mail is tharris@gate.net.

After all these years, I am thinking about upgrading.

3400 question:

Can anybody tell me anything about the new couch with Air Mattress. How does that work out.

Is it true that the 3400's now come equipped with 7000 lb axles?

-----------
Betty and I have been looking at Motorhomes but we keep going back to the Montana.

Tom,
We had the Pull Out Sofa With Air Mattress. On our first trip out, DW kept having to add air to it the first night she slept on it because of my snoring (telling on myself) She ended up on the floor. The technician I talked to said it was common for them to get caught between metal parts when folding the sofa up. He also stated that the majority of the time it is a seam that leaks. They replaced my mattress and from that point on WE were very careful when folding up the sofa to ensure it was clear of all folding metal parts. Others on here will come along and tell you that they actually remove the deflated mattress before storing the sofa. It is only held on by some Velcro tabs. I believe your sofa is made by Flexsteel, and they have some finer products. We now have the "Motor Home Sofa Sleeper Model 4452-FB60" by Flexsteel and it would be a fine replacement for the pull out sofa. It serves as a recliner, or full size bed.

Our 2008 (Mfg'd in 2007) 3400RL had the 7000 Lb axles. It should state in your documentation what capacity they are.

Thanks I had a feeling that sofa wasn't going to work out too good. Thanks for the info about the replacement. Maybe I can get the dealer to change it out if I buy one.

Your new 3400RL will come with 7000 Dexter Axles. Can't say too much about the Air Bed as we have not used it; does inflate and deflate fast great little pump as it reverses to pull a vacuum! Most people will say it's a great improvement to the old style hide - a - bed. When you sit on the couch it seems that the seat depth is shallow, will have to measure to compare to a residential type. Ellis

The sofa was one area I payed particular attention to during our PDI. One thing I did notice is they have added reinforcement to the areas that could easily become pinched. It does inflate and deflate quickly with the built in pump. The pump is NOT 12 volt, so you need shore power or a generator to inflate the bed. I haven't slept on it yet although I keep saying I am going to. Maybe on of these days I will e-mail you the PDI Checklist we used when we picked up our new rig.

Thanks Jack

Sounds like that Couch is going to be the low point for the 3400. My Monty has a regular hideabed with a spring mattress and it is very comfortable. No power required!!!!

Thanks for the PDI. Will look it over today.

Recieved another PDI from Ron. Thanks Ron!!!!!!

We will be taking delivery of a 2010 3400RL in a couple of weeks and would interested to see some of these PDI lists since we have to travel 250 miles to the dealer we bought from. We plan to stay in the area for a week hoping to find all the issues before traveling home. Email the lists to retomevi@comcast.net

Thanks

We love the new couch. It takes up way less room and is very comfortable. My sister visited us for a week, she is the one that uses it when she flies from California to join us at some of our stops and is thrilled with the new one. You don't have to take the cushions off and trip over them either.

We have the Big Sky 340 but I think the couch is the same as in the 3400 Montana.

I would not bail on the air bed sofa. Ours has served us above and beyond the call with our 6 grandkids for the past two years. No leaks ever and we would never go back to that irritating back breaking bar on the mattress style fold outs. Some have had some problems with leaks, but my feeling is that there are many more satisfied MOCers with the new air beds that aren't posting.

You do have to take some precautions, like watch for pinching in the mechanism. Some take the air mattress off before folding up the couch. This is a great step up in sleeper sofas IMHO...

Thanks, I am beginning to get confidence in the couch.

When I first got monty I replaced the useless mattress immediately and replaced it with a spring type. It did away with the "bar effect"

Hope I can talk Betty into a 3400. Much better bang for buck than a Motorhome.

I'd like a copy of the PDI list, too, if it's not too much trouble. We're coming to the end of our 1-year warranty and I'd like to catch any problems before the end.
