Oh great, now WD-40 will add to the label "New improved anti-chucking formula", and increase the price

So tell us more. Where on the hitch did you spray? The Teflon plate, jaws, pin, or ?? Curious minds want to know. I've got a 990 mile test drive coming up.

I'm curious too. This is an issue on I-43 in Wisconsin and could use some help. We are looking at the Mor Ryd for our next trailer because of this. I would imagine an easy fix would be upsetting to them.

We pulled for the first time this year so I greased up the hitch and pin with the white spray lube and installed a new Teflon plate. The old Teflon plate tour so was removed last summer. It was only a 160 mile trip but I don't remember feeling any chucking and I had felt some last year but never real bad. Maybe it's not so much the WD-40 as having everything lubricated good. I had not thought about it until reading your post.
Another potential impact on the chucking could have been the loading. I was not sure of the water supply so carried a lot of water in the tank which is all the way in the back. I normally carry some but not this much. Didn't use any of that water but no sewer hookup so came back with four days of waste in tanks plus the water.
Interesting, something to play around with this summer.

Carl, spray the top of your hitch where the teflon plate will set, as the teflon plate slides up the hitch it will it will ride on the (WD-40) pushing the air pocket out, just like when you push out the air pockets when installing your decals thus giving a more solid ride.

It can't be THAT simple! Boy, am I going to pay attention to the replies on this posting...I certainly hope that THIS is the secret! I won't be able to try it out until August so I, also, would really like to read replies of members who have tried it!

If it was me, I wouldn't spray any kind of lubricant where it will contact the teflon plate. The whole purpose of the teflon plate is to take out the wear and the metal against metal. While lubricating the teflon plate may not hurt it, I think it's not worth doing.

The only time we experienced chucking was when we replaced the pin box on our Cedar Creek with one that had an air filled blatter from Lippert. We saw it at a CC ralley, bought it, they installed it and it was all down hill after that. I paid our dealer to remove it and reinstall the original and delivered it back to Lippert for a refund.
The CC GVWR was 12200# and our 3400RL is almost 3000# more and we never experienced any chucking. I really believe it has more to do with proper suspension and weight distribution than anything else. I agree with Orv and would not do anything to violate the integrity of the teflon disk.

I heard that if you spray WD-40 on your bald spot that hair will grow.
I personally haven't tried this technique, yet, but will be anxious to see/hear about the results on Bill's head.
Hmmmm, maybe a Myth Busters episode starring The Oldguard!

Rich: WD40 should keep you dry -- it was invented as a 'Water Dispersant' (i.e. the WD) - just have to wonder how long it will hold up and how often it must be reapplied.

Used to tell machine operators not to use WD40 on our machines. Opened up my service kit and what's the first thing to fall out? The old 8 oz can.

Most of us can also spray it on our hands for that arthritic pain we are so used to.
