Our Montanas and Mission tires

Hello everyone, I am very concerned about the Mission tires problem a lot of us have been having, so I hand wrote a letter to National Transportation Saftey Board, Attention: Office of Highway Safety at 490 L'Enfant Plaza, SW Washington DC 20594. They will not accept un-solicited e-mails through their website, you have to hand write them. I would suggest that all of us with this brand of tire do what I did. If they receive enough letters it will rise a concern. Maybe, just maybe, we can get them to do a recall on these tires with the Mission company. Keep your fingers crossed and do the same thing. Good Luck and be sure to check your tire pressures at every stop!

Jeff,
Check out the site; http://www.safercar.gov/. I believe you can file a complaint on tires online there. My only reason for being hesitant is the fact that I have had no problems so far. I don't feel justified in filing a complaint and saying "others have had failures". Perhaps expressing concern in the hand written letter is better in this case.

I had no problems with our Mission tires although I did change them out at @ 15K miles. They were wearing fine but I would have changed out any OEM tire at @15K miles.

Good for you Jeff. Being proactive with our agencies often works and because my Mission tires are new I'd naturally be interested in the outcome of your letter writing effort.

Does Lake George still have the Harbor Inn there?

Check your valve stems. Mine had rubber stems that were not for heavy duty tires that carry alot of weight. They should be steel stems. While driving with alot of weight and heated tires the rubber stems can leak and cause a low air condition. This will cause excessive heat and result in tread seperation or blow out. Just my opinon.

dilligas, I just had the tire guy come out and put the new steel stems in and they did it under the factory warranty.

My experience is the same as Rich's although we've put only about 12k miles on them so far. They're wearing nicely and are the very first set of tires I've had on any fifthwheel since 1995 that seem to hold pressure. There are changes when going from summer to winter and vice-versa but otherwise they have held pressure for 14 months now. I may have to eat my words if these tires self-destruct someday but so far they've been good tires. School is still out, though, until they have more miles on them.
