We are in Soldatna, AK for a month after coming up the Alcan in June. The Alcan will shake things up so make sure the cabinet doors are shut and we use velcro between the handles to keep them closed. We had a few minor issues--water heater door fell off--but I think that was just an isolated situation. There was no damaage and the water heater works great. A hinge on our folding door was put on upside down--so the pin finally fell out--so I turned the hinge over. We have the Mor-Ryde King Pin assembly and I believe it really helps with the frost heaves on these rolling roads. Overall all, we are really pleased with our Montana 3475RL (2006 model pulled by F350 King Ranch long bed). Come on UP! We are waiting for the salmon to run while doing some sightseeing.

I came south on the Alcan the first part of June. Had 2 flat tires on Monty (had to buy one new tire, sent them all in to Tireco while in Spokane and bought new ones from Les Schwab). Had to replace air and fuel filter not far out of Alaska. Air was clogged from dirt and dust and dirt in fuel filter. IF I were to do the trip again, I would have extra filters and an extra spare tire for Monty and truck. JMHO.....

Does the Good Sam Road Service respond while in Alaska?
I'm planning a trip next spring.

We did the trip in '05 w/no problems. Just take your time and take it easy. Watch for the frost heave markers and slow down. Agree re. carry spare filters, including oil filters. Services and parts can be limited or far apart. It's an adventure!

dannyl, Can't really say what Good Sam offers in Canada. On my two flats, I changed the wheels myself to save time. I didn't even call GS. I would call them and find out though. I would think that because of the long distances, you might be on the side of the road quite awhile waiting for them, depending on where you are, of course.
Have a good safe trip, carry filters, an extra tire (?), and get a good bottle jack for lifting rig. And, most of all, slow down and take your time.
