Bed mattress

Our 06 3670 monty is on order and i was wondering if anyone has a pillow top mattress in there's. We saw the jayco's with the pillow top and it was a lit nicer mattress than the one in the monty. We ordered the king bed option and the corner on the mattress is cut off a little on bath side. Does anyone have idea or experience?

We didn't have a pillow top bed in our TT (do at home) so we bought a feather bed from J.C.Penney's. Cost about $60. It is about 2 inch thick and soft soft soft! Easy to fluff out and easy to rotate. We sleep great on it!

We use a "Memory Foam" mattress "topper", available from any number of places, and love it.

Another tip: if you put a layer of cardboard, for example, from a wardrobe shipping container, between the mattress and the plywood of the bed itself, you can much more easily move the mattress around to make the bed, and will minimize wear on the bottom of the mattress from the plywood it rests on. We've had ours that way for over 2 years of full time use, and it is still like new.

Best,

We use a feather mattress topper on ours. Makes it comfy.

The 3" memory foam mattress toppers (all sizes) are on sale at overstock.com for $129 + $1 shipping. We just bought one - got one a while back for the house.

Great idea about the cardboard, PJ! Which size memory foam do you have? We bought the 3 incher from overstock.com but it was too narrow for the bed even though it was advertised as queen size. So we sent it back. Then we bought a 1 1/2 incher from Target, also queen size, also too small. So we took it back and got the King sized one from Target and cut it to fit. I like the 1 1/2 incher but am wondering if we made a mistake not getting the King 3 incher and cutting it down. I've also seen them advertised at 2 inches.

For those wondering about ordering from overstock.com, we had no problem getting credited on our card for the return. We did have to pay shipping, though, plus a $4.95 return fee.

If you go with the 3" memory foam, train yourself to duck. We put ours on top of our aftermarket mattress and found ourselves hitting our heads on the underside of the slide overhead when rising from the bed.

We ordered a short queen pillow-top from Elkhart Bedding here in Elkhart to replace the stock matress. Fits perfect and sleeps great. I also glued the same felt material used to line the storage compartment or basement to the plywood that holds the matress. It also helped with moving the matress back and forth to make the bed. Yet the matress doesn't move when rolling down the road.

Bought a regular queen bed mattress with pillow top, lowered the bed box/platform by about 4 " and added a 2" feather topper. Now we sleep sooooo well!!! When you place any mattress on a piece of plywood it really firms it up. The 2" feather topper was the icing on the cake.

How did you lower the bed by 4 inches? Very interested in this since we plan to replace our mattress with a thicker better mattress.

Do they sell any size pillow top mattress for rv's. Ours will be the king size but it has one corner cut off a little because of new design they had to use to get king bed in I GUESS. Also do you have a phone No# for them or web site. Thanks to all for idea's on mattress i think we will try a feather topper if we can't find a regular pillow top.

Our king bed has both corners rounded and like others we bought a 3" memory foam topper for better comfort on the bed. In order to make it fit we had to trim the corners to match the mattress but did not want to make a mess cutting the foam. A friend told us to mark the underside of the topper with and cut it with an electric kitchen knife. Worked perfectly, looks like a professional job.

Dustytuu, we disassebled our bed box, totally removed from the rv, took the paneling off and cut the studs(so to speak) down by about 4" and re assembled. We even replaced the 3/8" plywood that was used for the paltform by 1/2" I believe. When one installs one of the new 13" thick mattresses it not only makes it fairly high for us buuuut also makes it impossible for the schnauzers to jump up onto the bed. Best improvement we made to the rv!!!

Another fan of the "memory foam" topper! We love ours...it makes the bed soooo much nicer to sleep on! And I'll have to try that cardboard trick! The things you learn on these forums!

We have never had a camper with a decent mattress always had to rebuild the frame and buy a real mattress..Most folks don't sleep on them that much, weekends, vacations so they tolerate cheap mattress.Seems a shame, that should be a option. When at the factory will ask if we can order one with no mattress.
