Hi RonS,
Have you done a "search" here? I seem to remember someone posting that info in a thread about 6 to 9 months ago.

Check with Ludke (spelling ?)

From Milwaukee. He did just what you are describing witn a fireplace from Northern Tool. Super job! He was at the Recent Rally.

You can always get one from your dealer, installed it shouldn't be more than $1200. We sure love ours, you can have it just "light" so you aren't getting heat or you can use it for heat which it produces a whole lot of.

I'm curious as to where you are going to put a fireplace in your 3280? We have a Montana 3280 and we too would love a fireplace.
Thanks

Home Depot and/or Lowes now carry an electric model fireplace. Also in Kansas City area a store called Seasonal Concepts has an electric fireplace that is controled by remote control. Try any local fireplace and/or home center they should have information on electric fireplaces.

Dealer tells me it goes under the TV in the space where the fold down desk is now located. I found one at a dealer but wants $800 installed, dont know if this is a good price and am in the process of checking around. Said it was taken out of a unit where they wanted more storage space.

Thanks to all - your replies have helped a great deal. Ron

We bought ours from a propane dealer who also sold gas and electric fireplaces. The electric one they carried happened to be the same brand Keystone uses for their factory installs. They ordered me one and I put it in myself right under the TV. Looks and works great. Cost us just a tad over $ 800.

I don't know if we can afford to visit this forum. So far to day we have an electric fireplace and a new thermostat. Went to Home Depot and Lowe's. Bought a free standing fireplace (at Lowe's $2 cheaper than at HD) that just fits at the end of the kitchen island in our 3280RL. We can sit in our recliners and toast our toes in front of the fireplace. Will install the thermostat in the AM. Thanks for all the good information. Treecounter

We just purchased a free standing fireplace that is the cutest thing you ever saw. We put it on the floor right in front of the cabinet where the water pump is. (TV is above that) It is only 26" high x 20" wide and 12" deep. We could also put it at the end of the bar like Treecounter did. Now I don't have to give up any cupboard space for a fireplace and in the summer time we can just take it out and store it.

The best thing is it was on sale for $127.00 at Menards. (Menards is like a Home Depot or Lowes) To think we just about bought a new 3400 Montana just so we could have a fireplace. Think of all that money we saved. If anyone is interested, the sale runs through Oct. 31. They also had the fireplace insert for $169 that you could install in a cabinet.

Can't wait to go camping again. We just might get in another weekend before the Mich. weather turns too cold.

Ken and Joan, thanks for this info. We're rapidly getting to the time of year where a fireplace would be particularly nice to have.

Went to Menards - Purchased the on sale firplace insert $164 and installed under the TV on our 3280RL. Looks nice and seems to be happy living where the desk used to be. Ron

The fireplace we bought is also free standing looks like a small wood stove. We were concerned about how hot it got withe the heat element on the bottom with only an inch of clearance. Gave the company a call and they said "It will discolor your carpet". Off to HD for some marble tile to put under it. It looks nice as it isn't very big and resembles the wood stove in the house. We had some 1" aluminum angle stock left over from the screen on the overhang in front and painted it black and added it to the "plastic" legs on the stove and raised it 4". The floor under the stove stays cool now and Glub says it raised it closer to her feet. Treecounter
