Side Shifter

Someone else started a thread on this new mod a month or so ago, but I could not find it. If you go to www.sideshifteronline.com you can see it for yourself. I got curious and contacted the company. They have 3 models, and two of them would have 5th wheel applications. The 400 series can lift up to 14500 lbs. It weighs 490, and cost WITHOUT shipping or instal is $6900. The 600 series will take a 18500 lb trailer, weighs 540 lbs, and goes for $7800, plus, plus. I thanked the guy, but I told him most of us would not be beating down his door because of cost (not to mention weight), although I do LOVE the concept! Anyone out there interested?

There are all kinds of technology gadgets in todays world ... I have a few myself. If I ever was contemplating a site that I needed to roll my Montana sideways, I'd move on to another. If I was temporarily blocked in somewhere, I'd grab an iced tea and let time pass for a while. $7000 ++ dollars plus the added weight for a handful of times it might be used just doesn't calculate out for me.

When I looked at the link on the previous post, looked like a pretty great idea; however, I thought the ground clearance might be an issue with many camp sites...and now you clinched it with the price...not for us!

The fifthwheel in the picture on their website appears to be a 2002 or earlier (based on the stripes on the side) Montana 3295RK.

I don't believe he could run fast enough to catch me to sell me one!!! I would sure rather pay for a bigfoot or lippert levelup system something I would really use. If you think about it how many times have you been a spot where you had to have that.JMHO

Seems very expensive to me, I dont think I could afford it either. if it is mounted to the RV and the weight of this unit, it seems that that will take away some of the allowable weight for provisions and personal belongings.
