Portable Air Conditioners in the monty

Does anyone know how many amps the rooftop ac draws? While camping last weekend in the 90+ degree heat i noticed that at night the temperature was cool enough, but during the day it just kept running. I know this is normal because its a large 5th wheel with only 1 ac, but i was wondering what you guys/gals think about a portable ac? I would fab up something (or if you guys have a better idea) to put in the window in my side isle on the way past the bathroom and into my bedroom. I don't want to add another roof top ac and think that a cheaper 300-400.00 portable ac will do the trick and 99% of the time i'll be using a 30 amp connection. Now, the 10,000btu portable ac only uses 9 amps, which leaves me 21 amps for everything else. So... what does my rooftop ac use? and what are your thoughts on this?

Funny you should ask

We have an "in room" a/c (amana) that we use in the house. It draws 10.5 amps, and fyi it's also a heater that draws 8 amps. I was thinking about putting it in the monty for "back up" if needed. Not much in the way of mods to do, simply build a bracket to hold the duct hose plate up to one of the windows. My house is a split level about 1600 sf, and we use it on the upper floor...it's 90+ out now, and with the assistance of an extra fan it keeps the whole upper level at 74. Quiet, remote control, paid 250 for it at hh gregg's on sale...and it's 12,000 btu's (heat is like 9600 btu's).
I drain it about once a week, and it only usually has about 2 cups of water in the drain pan.

Have a friend in AZ with a unit he got at Lowes. It has a 4" duct out the window. He ran a cord from the 20 amp plug on the pedestal.System works great.

sounds good, but will it be ok to run with my rooftop ac going along with a few lights and a radio?

Are you in a park? Does you pedestal have both a 30 amp and a 15/20 plug?

Pull the slide part way in and run the cord thru the crack.

Genius! i would have never thought of that. Now could i do the same with a generator? i have a honda eu6500is. Could i max out my 30 amp rv plug and also plug in other things in the normal 3 prong outlet and still be safe for the generator?

On my previous camper (30 amps) I installed a second roof A/C. Concerned about amps I ran a power cord out from it that I could attach a large 20 amp extension cord to and plug directly into the pedestal. It worked great and we stayed cool.
