1/2 time oven

Does anyone have any secrets for making popcorn in the appolo half time oven/microwave? No matter what we do it always burns it or you can only pop about one quarter of it. Thanks for any help. Bob

We pop corn all the time in ours. We just use the Popcorn Button and stop it about 5 seconds before it's done. Maybe try a different brand?

We just use the popcorn button. Think it pops for 2:46 mins. in microwave mode. Seems to work fine, although DW thinks she gets a couple of burned kernels once in awhile.. 1/2 time works great for cookies..DW has the timing just right fo her choc. chip cookies.

I use the regular microwave button and lower the power to 80% and give it the same time as normal and stand there and listen to when it slows down on the popping - remember how long it took and do it the same amount of time each time - comes out good.
The ovens are a very powerful microwave - I lower the power often.

We haven't done popcorn yet but Vicki has used the 1/2 time oven for meals of several different types. We are totally thrilled with the performance of this oven. I especially like that we're not burning propane when we use it! (read that meaning we don't pay extra for electricity here).

Thanks for the suggestions! We use the small bags of Orville Reddinbocker (sp) and burn quite a bit on the popcorn button. We have tried lower power and shorter times and it still burns or only pops about half of it. What brands have you successful poppers used?

While I don't have the half time oven (or a Monty yet for that matter), I burn the OR popcorn in those mini-bags as well quite easily in a regular micro. I think it tells you not to use the popcorn button for these (I am sure due to their small size and burning issue). You really have to watch/listen close and I find just stopping the micro when it slows down popping, but not wait until it is too slow. It think it is just a guessing game but you will learn what works for the most part. It all will not be popped but it is better that way than burnt!
