How the propane pigtail flow restrictor valve works

Hello Fellow Monty owners. I’ve been having a problem lately with the drivers side propane tank not feeding the RV. We’re about to get slammed with this arctic blast, so I’ve found that I could manually move the non-working tank to the other side and it would work, but I still wanted to know why the other side would not work. I searched the forum and like many times in the past found several threads which were a great help and pointed me to the pigtail. I tried some of the fixes to no avail and figured I needed to replace that pigtail, and probably both of them while I’m at it. However, I’m a “need to know how and why it works” nut so I kept digging off the forum. I ran into the article below, written in 2001, and it did a fairly good job of describing the new pigtail design coming out at the time, and in particular how the flow restrictor valve worked and why it would seem to “misfunction” and how to fix it. I followed the information in the article and everything is working great now. I search the forum regularly, but very seldom post, so if I put this in the wrong place, or if this information has been discredited, please forgive me. This is a great forum and the “problem solvers” are a tremendous help! I hope this article is helpful to someone else on the forum!
