Hi. We are Roy and Nancy Burk from the beautiful state of Oregon, southern part. We are taking delivery today of our 2955RL. We traded in our smaller 5th wheel with only one slide and look forward to the upgrade. We are both self-employed and our only escape from our work is getting away in our second home for weekends and longer holiday weekends. We can do that year round here and actually enjoy off season the best. We look forward to the day we can actually have a full week at a time to travel. We have one daughter and 3 grandchildren who live next door, so it is very important for us to get some time away to ourselves.

Hello Roy and Nancy and welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new 5th. We've had ours for less then a year now and have only been on weekend trips. Next weekend we are getting out for 2 full weeks. We're really looking forward to it. Going through WV and then down to Gatlinburg, TN, actually Cherokee Camp in NC.

Welcome Roy and Nancy. Thanks for taking the time to post and tell us a little about yourselves. Must be great having the grandchildren so close by. Unfortunately ours are in OH and CT and for now we are in GA. Congrats on your new 5er. May you enjoy many happy miles!

Welcome aboard, Roy and Nancy! We recently spent some time in your beautiful state and want to spend a lot more time there next time around. We stayed near Chilocquin (ap?) north of Klamath Falls, went to Crater Lake. We then overnighted in Talent and landed in Fairview (Portland) and did all the great things around there. We really want to spend some time on the coast but that will have to be "next time". Welcome aboard.

Wow, you were at our front door! Talent is just a few miles from us. Next time you must visit our great little town of Jacksonville, an historic gold mining town and home of the Britt Festival. If you stayed at Collier state park, we have been there many times (Chiloquin). If you missed the miniature trains there you really missed something! If you did not get to the coast, you missed the best part of Oregon! We are not natives. We have been here for 25 years by choice and have not seen enough yet. There is much of the state we would like to explore but it is so large it takes more than a weekend. We are always happy to offer suggestions/advice to anyone traveling in this area.

Yes, it's a beautiful state and we've not even scratched the surface yet! We got to Talent via highway 66 from Klamath Falls. Beautiful drive but slow in parts. We were not in that big a hurry anyhow. We stayed overnight at an rv park right at exit 21. We were almost on the southbound exit ramp, west side of the highway. We didn't do any sightseeing that night, just a run to Walmart which was practically across the street. Saw signs and a brochure for Jacksonville and it's on our "next time" list. So many things are on that list. We didn't even get into Talent itself.

Thanks for the reply. We definitely want to come back and really see the state.

At Chilocquin we stayed at Wagon Wheel RV Park, or something close to that. It's out on the main north-south highway from Klamath Falls (97??), west side of the highway, north bank of the river.

Yes, I know that park because we actually looked at to buy with some friends! The state park (Collier) is just up the road going north right off 97. It is great park right on the river.

You are brave to travel highway 66.

Be sure to let us know next time you plan to travel here and if we can be of any help.

Thanks, Ron and Nancy. We'd like to meet you sometime. We're headed north and east from here (Kansas City area) in another week or so, so maybe sometime next year.

Congratulations on your new Montana and welcome to MOC.

I've heard Oregon is beautiful and hope one day to get there.

I totally understand the need to get away and have some time for yourselves. You're going to love it, just like we do.

Do keep us updated on your adventures and travels. We just love chatty members who share.
