Slippery Steps - Ideas ?

A family member wearing socks slipped down the steps from the bedroom today. She does not appear to be badly hurt but it has happened to us before. I am wondering if others have come up with an eloquent solution to the problem.

slippery steps

The first week we had our unit we went to Walmart and bought some carpet (???) door mats and cut them for the main steps and the step to our front bath tub. I cut the mats down to pieces that fit the steps. I did not try to match the stair nosing radius - just cut them down to rectangles that covered most of the steps. We used double-sided carpet tape to secure them. I do not remember the exact name of the mats, but I think they were on the aisle with rugs.

Our rig actually came with carpet there. It souldn't be too hard to cut some and glue it down.

When we picked up our new rig from the dealer we purchased and installed pre-cut step mats with sticky backing on the steps to mitigate slipping and scratching the steps.
