X2 with GA Mountaineer. Keystone and Marathon's track record on this issue are deserving of "bashing" This is a serious safety issue.

Personally I think the Marathon is not enough tire for the weight of the Montana. Not that they are a bad tire just the wrong tire for these trailers. G614 seem to also have a higher failure rate on trailers in the 18k# range and higher. Personally I got 15k miles out of the Marathons on my Monty. I only got 1 year out of the tires but for a underrated tire I did get decent miles. I also got 18k miles out a similar tire as well. In both cases the belts gave away. I was lucky in that the TPMS found the problem before the tires gave way and did damage to the trailer. I always do a full detailed inspection of the tires prior to each trip. Currently I have G614 on the Monty. I currently have 3k miles on them. So far so good. We leave later this week for another 3k mile trip over the next 3 weeks. My goal is to get far more miles out of the G614 than the Marathon and similar tires. Only time and miles will tell.

If you are only running 2k miles a year then I see no reason you can not get 4 or 5 years out of the Marathons if properly cared for.

I have Michlein LT tires. I have put on over 70,000 miles - maybe 80K since I don't know exactly how much driving without towing I do when traveling. I got around 40K or 45K on the first set. I have about 20K on now and am heading to Whitehorse and Dawson City Yukon this summer. Of course my Monty is only about 14000 lb - not 18000.
