Slideout Trim Falling Off

I recently had the trim on one of my slide outs in the living area fall off while traveling. When I got to where I wanted and was putting the slides out, I found the trim laying in the floor. This was most of the trim on that slide out. No damage to it but it just fell off. There were a lot of nails in it but it fell off anyway. My dealer fixed it but I was wondering if anyone else had a similiar problem?

That is something that should be reported to Keystone..If they do not know about these issues they will do nothing to correct them.

I have had one piece of trim come loose on my kitchen slide. So I now check it routinely. I nailed it back into place with some double sided tape underneath and so far all has been well.

We drilled a 3/8 inch countersink hole. We used a drywall screw to affix the trim to the backer board and then used a wooden plug to cap the hole. We used 2 screws on the top trim of the big slide, and 2 on each side trim board. With the plug we can remove it to get at the screws if we need to, like the service center guys did.

How old is your unit? Ours is an '07 with something over 14,000 miles on it, some on some pretty rough roads, and nothing significant has come loose yet. An occasional screw has worked loose, but nothing has fallen off or come apart.

My unit is a 2012 3625RL. I spoke to the service guys and they just pulled the nails out from the back and used a little longer nail with a an air trim nail gun to put it back on. The backing board looks to be a 2X6 so it allows using longer nails. At least I know how to repair it myself now, should it ever happen again, which I hope it does not. Thanks for all the reply's folks. I do appreciate them. I guess I just got lucky to get the one that fell off. LOL....

When you had the problem fixed did the repair shop check the clearence between the floor and trim piece of the slide. We had loose trim on two slides on our Montana High Country because the bottom of the trim was contacting the carpet and pulling it loose.

We have a 2011 3150RL. The bottom of the trim on our entertainment center slide pulls out about 2" every time we run the slide out. Dealership service department can't find any reason (or any fix) for that, so we just knock it back on with a rubber hammer carried for that purpose. I think snfexpress has the best solution with a drywall screw.

I have not had any problems with the length of the trim pulling carpet out. The trim I lost was from the top of the slideout. I think I would get a Japanese style saw and cut about a 1/4 inch off the side trim if I had that kind of problem. Make sure you do not cut the rubber seal that goes all the way to the floor.

I found out the hard way if you leave the rear cabinet door open, whenyou open the slide it will hook the trim and pull it off, with a loud BANG!

On my 2008 Big Sky, I had trim come off over the kitchen slide. I carry a air driven trim nailer for just such events. I put about twice the number of nails when I repaired it.
