Looking to buy a Montana
I'm looking at the Montana's around 2015+. What are some of the known problems that I should be looking for. Not real familiar with the pros and cons of the Montana. A friend had one and he liked it.

Welcome to the forum from Washington state. We have a 2015 Montana that we purchased in early 2016. I interpretted that scenario as the unit had been on the lot a bit so being part of the year closeout we got a great deal. As with any RV we had some little problems. For example molding or trim too long that warped and pulled away from entry door frame, scratch and ding on fridge door, screen door adjustment. All easy DIY fixes but dealer performed after shakedown trip. The largest problem we had was with the Thetford toilet and thanks to this forum it was well documented. As are unit was under warranty still I approached Keystone as an informed consumer and worked out a replacement that permenantly resolved the issue. We have added lots of upgrades following the expiration of the warranty period. We have been happy with our experience to date. We are about to go FT and we are working out storage issues now. This forum has been an excellent resource to find commom construction flaws, resolutions as well as worth while upgrades and improvement ideas. I don't know if we just got lucky or if some of the problems being identified in newer models just weren't an issue in our production year but our issue have been largely cosmetic.

Our 2015. Failed frig, failed m/w, failed A/C, failed black dump valves (both black tanks) , all within 6 months. Keystone took care of all under warranty. Other small stuff I took care of myself. Frig and M/W failed because of improper install by Keystone.

Browse through the maintenance and repair threads. Of all the thread topics available, those are the most discussed topics on the forum. If that doesn't scare you off from rving, nothing will. But, it will arm you with a vast knowledge of what to look for in most any brand of trailer.

Robert- first of all welcome to the Forum. When you go through the threads in the maintenance and repair postings just remember this is a problem that one or maybe s few have had with their unit. It does not include the units that have not had any or very few problems. There is bound to be a few problems when the factory is putting out 15-20 units a day but you don't hear or see good postings because why post if you aren't having any problems. Just remember if you buy a Montana you are pulling a house on wheels and down some of the worst roads in the US. There are bound to be a few problems and things come up that need repair. Also think what would happen if you pulled your Stick and Brick house down the roads. I'd be really surprised if you would have anything left after pulling the Stick and Brick down the road even after the first day. Montana has been the #1 selling fifth wheel for over 10 years and it is the best bang for the buck you will find.

Welcome to the forum. We've been full timing in Montanas for the last 8 years. We've had no unusual problems with both a 2010 and a 2017 both different models. Based on problems reported here it does seem there are more issues with the High Country's but they do cost less also.
