Wi-Fi in Texas Rest Stops

The Good Sam magazine that came today says Texas has Wi-Fi at their rest stops. Anyone used them? Hope other states follow suit.
Happy trails.......................

Also some of the Texas State Parks have Wi-Fi, have not used either as I don't full time. I have a Dell lap-top with Wi-Fi access, but do not take it on the road with the Montana as internet is not of great importance to me when camping.

Sue, we had some firsthand experience with Texas WiFi on our trip home from Alaska. In west Texas, it was an easy connect, no charge. When we got to Wichita Falls the connection was offered but we had to sign up and share our credit card number. We were offered two hours free but if we went over, there was a charge, automatically. We didn't expect the charge as we thought it was free. Some local motels "offered" free connections so we visited them to get our email.

Iowa also has wi-fi rest areas. I used one on my way through last month, works pretty good. Especially good when trying to find traffic and road condition reports for the state and neighboring states.

I'm glad you had good luck wih the Iowa syste. When we tried (twice in two years) the service was so slow to connect we gave up. It was, however, the hieght of the tourist season.

Dave,
You are right, the service was a little on the slower side. I was driving from Rapid City, SD to Chicago the same day. The slower speed connections forced me to take a little longer of a break, probably was a good thing to keep me refreshed and alert.
