Satelite reception in keys

Well we finally reached Key West and are staying at Bluewater RV Resort. Super nice!!!! We turned our direct TV on which is serviced by a dish on top of camper that automatically connects to direct tv satellite to find there was no service in this area. After talking to the park and looking at other campers in the park no one was using satellite because satellite service in the lower keys is almost non existent. Air TV in our area is just as hard to receive, forcing everyone to go to cable TV. I was not aware of this situation prior and had no way to really check it out and thought I'd put this out there and see if anyone has input and what the solutions may be.
Can anyone also let us know how this works out west. Is there cable or do you need satellite?
Thanks alot Jerome & Judy

Just curious. Did the lack of satellite include the Dish as well as the Direct users? You would think with a good sight to the equator. and open skies that satellite would be good there. it will be good info when you find out the possible solutions.

DirecTV works fine in the west from Mexico (it works there too) to Canada.

I don't understand why no service in the Keys. It would seem they should be in the sat beam foot print at least for 101. See the foot print map here:
http://www.marinesatellitesystems.co...hp?page_id=825

According to Dish Pointer the aiming numbers for Key West for sat 101 are:
Address: key west, fl
Latitude: 24.5551°
Longitude: -81.7800°

Satellite: 101W DIRECTV 9S | SES 1
Elevation: 54.1°
Azimuth (true): 220.0°
Azimuth (magn.): 225.8°

We have the roof top dish that automatically locates the satellite and it was set at 101 and the box is permanently installed in the camper. The frequency ranged between 0 and 67. We could not get HD period and the regular channels came and went. We were in Key Largo earlier and everything worked perfect.
As I explained in original post we hooked up to cable and the campground person explained the dish did not pick up well down here. We rode around the campground and there were large RVs and 5th Wheels, None of then had their satellite dishes up. Sure is a mystery Jerome & Judy

Weird, Key West is 1.5 degrees more elevation than Key Largo. Could it be the antenna can not elevate to 54 degrees? I find this all to be strange as DirecTV advertises service locally in Key West. I would give them a call and see what they have to say.

Walmart and their DVDs are always a good option. We used a lot of them on our AK trip where satellite reception is also bad. We had areas we could not even get Sirius XM in our truck.

Recommend some time in Sloppy Joes instead of watching TV.
