Window Removal/Re-installation

Before making this post, I thought this subject may have already been addressed and I could find the information I was looking for on the MOC. Either I didn’t search correctly or no one has ever posted anything about window removal and re-installment. I tried looking online for Kinro windows but no luck.

We have a 2011 Montana with the Kinro windows. We have three locations that leak when it rains. After taping plastic over three windows, I have confirmed that indeed the leak is associated with the windows.

I would like to remove and then re-install the windows. It appears to be a rather simple process, remove the screws on the interior frame and with someone on the outside, carefully remove the window from the outside.

The re-installation is something I want to do correctly. After removing the existing caulking and cleaning the surfaces, is there anything else to do, other than new caulking/sealant? Is there a recommended caulking/sealant to use? Is there anything special to do?

If the "Search" function was working I could find two posts about replacing windows (or installing one where there wasn't one before). You are right one, remove the screws, be sure to have a second pair of hands to hold 1/2 of the frame, and pull it out.

I believe you use Butyl tape on the window frame where it contacts the trailer sidewall. It is available at RV stores in roll form that they will cut to whatever length you desire. It also comes in colors, but you probably want the black stuff. All in all, it is a pretty easy job.

Are you sure the leak is around the frame and not the much more common plugged up weep holes??

Thanks for the replies. The video shows it is not a big job to remove and re-install a window. I have one window that will need to be removed and resealed. Pressing on the exterior sidewall creates a small gap between the window and the sidewall. I don't know about the other two windows yet. I need to determine if the weep holes are plugged since Carl says this is a common problem.
