Never say you never will

Got parked at a casino west of Albuquerque this afternoon and the wind that was already gusting over 30mph started gusting over 50mph. I'd ask the casino management if I could park where I was and if it was ok to put our slides out (we have to put the bedroom one out, but some of the class A's had all theirs out). They said it was ok so we got a players card, won $40 bucks, had dinner and fought our way back to the rig. We were sitting in our recliners and the wind hitting the side of the rig was making us rock enough it was hard to read (these are not rocker recliners). I went out to make sure the windows on the truck were up and many of the class A's and C's had their stabilizers fully down. I just put my landing gear down till it hit the ground. I always said I'd never put my rams down on someone's lot, but this was exceptional. Since our hitch swivels from side to side several inches, once the front rams just touched the ground the rocking was restricted to just the springs and the slides being pushed in a little so it as passable.

I'd have done the same in those conditions. It's uncomfortable and a bit scary when the rig rocks that much.

Geez Dick, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to feel right. Would have done the same. Nothing to feel bad about.

Dick, if you were parked out in the 66 Casino area, you were in one of mother natures wind tunnels, I would have done the same and probably staked her down to boot. We did have some good winds.

Hi Dick,

I know what you are experiencing. We are at Foss lake State Park. The wind was lifting the slide out canopy to the stops. Couldn't get a rope over it, so pulled in the big slide for the night. Winds were down to a mild 36 mph this morning so managed to tie the awning down. Think we will stay here for another day.

Safe travels,
Barry

I guess I shouldn't have worried about being a good neighbor anyway. When we last looked down the line of RV's a horse traier/RV was at the end of the line and a guy unloaded two horses and tied them to the trailer. This morning they left really early and left what the horses deposited there on the lot. Hard to believe they didn't carry a shovel and didn't take care of the mess. It's no wonder when some businesses don't want us overnighting there.

Yes we were and you couldn't be more correct.

Dick, I drove through there a couple of weeks ago in a Sienna van and had a hard time staying on the road. Tough area for winds.

Dick, I had a pop-up I quit in the middle of the night and went to a motel because of high wind in Idaho Springs Co. Next morning I went back to take home and it had slid against another rig about 80 ft away from where it had been parked. No fun that night.

Dick, it's enough to know you care. I been in locations where other dog owners left their "sh&@" and I still picked my dogs stuff up! You can't fix those people. I truly believe selfishness - me me me, is distorting our world! We fight back by checking ourselves, our kids and grand kids. I told my son a hundred times when he was growing up, I don't care what the Jone's do, I care about what the Arnold's do!
